Boston College heads into one of the ACC’s tougher road tests on Friday night, visiting No. 14 Clemson at Historic Riggs Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., with the matchup streaming live on ACC Network Extra.
The Eagles arrive in South Carolina off a wild 3-3 draw with No. 15 Louisville, a game stretched to nearly four and a half hours because of delays.
Boston College got goals from Fynn Henze, Michael Asare, and Dylan Mafong, while Bryan Toro, Russell Brown, and Mafong each chipped in on the assists. Andrej Borak turned away five shots for the third straight match.
Boston College enters at 5-1-2 overall and 1-1-1 in ACC play, and the offense has been spread around. Asare and Brown lead the team with four goals apiece, and both sit on nine points.
Mafong has matched them in points as well, producing three goals and three assists. Toro has been the Eagles’ top setup man with four assists, a total that ranks tied for second in the conference.
Borak has been the constant in net, starting every game this season. He carries a 1.25 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage, along with two shutouts.
The bigger story with Boston College is how many different players have found a way to chip in. Through eight games, 18 Eagles have recorded a goal contribution, and five of them have posted at least three. BC is one of six ACC teams with three players who have scored at least three goals, one of four with at least two players at three or more assists, and the only team in the league with four players already at eight or more points.
Clemson comes in at 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play after beating UNC on Saturday for its second ACC victory. Rashford Gyan leads the Tigers with five goals, while Xander Sevian tops the assist chart with three.
Sevian and Gyan are tied for the team lead with 11 points each. In goal, Aleksa Janjic has started seven of Clemson’s eight matches and owns a 1.14 goals-against average, a .636 save percentage, and one shutout.
Friday’s meeting will be the 25th all-time between the programs. Boston College is 4-15-5 in the series and has just one win at Historic Riggs Field.
The last matchup came in September 2024, when Clemson earned a 1-0 win in Newton. The Eagles’ only victory in Clemson came in October 2009, a 2-0 result, and they have gone winless in their last 10 trips there since a 1-1 tie in October 2010.
Boston College returns home next Saturday to host North Carolina at 3:00 p.m., with that match also streaming on ACCNX.
