Boston College’s first availability report for Saturday’s matchup with Virginia Tech brought a long list of absences, with 11 Eagles ruled out and four more players sitting in the questionable range.
The out group is headlined by linebacker Bodie Kahoun, who has been part of the rotation since transferring from Notre Dame. Kahoun started the season opener against Cincinnati and finished with three tackles, then followed that with six tackles against Rutgers before exiting in the second quarter with a scary injury. He also missed last week’s 22-16 win over Maine.
Defensive lineman Chris Marable Jr. is also out after missing the last two games. Boston College has leaned on him as one of its most reliable defensive tackles when available. Offensive lineman Michael Crounse remains sidelined too; he was rolled up on against Cincinnati and has been replaced over the past two-plus games by DJ Williams.
The rest of the out list includes defensive back Isaiah Farris, linebacker Justin Medlock, running back Sedric Addison, defensive back Cameron Martinez, offensive lineman Marek Jin, and tight ends Brady Clough, Kaelan Chudzinski and Bryce Lewis. Martinez’s absence is notable because he had been part of the secondary rotation and special teams when healthy, though injuries have limited him dating back to last season.
Kris Jones is the biggest name on the questionable list. The defensive end started the opener against Cincinnati and made four tackles, but he did not play against Maine because of an injury.
Also listed as questionable are defensive back Syair Torrence, defensive lineman Alex DeGrieck and kicker Jonathan Hewitt. Torrence made his presence felt against Maine by forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff, though he has not yet returned as a cornerback.
DeGrieck and Hewitt have not played this season.
Boston College also listed four players as probable: defensive lineman Onye Nwosisi, running back Bo MacCormack III, defensive lineman Micah Amedee and wide receiver Reed Swanson. MacCormack has missed the past two weeks with a shoulder injury.
Boston College and Virginia Tech are set to kick off Saturday at noon at Alumni Stadium, with the game televised on ACC Network.
