Boston College’s training camp kept rolling Tuesday morning in Chestnut Hill, with the Eagles putting in their 17th session of the summer and their second straight day on the field.
The opening one-on-one work belonged to the defense. Max Tucker and Carter Davis both came away with interceptions, while fellow Maryland native Kameron Howard added a pass breakup. The offense answered later in the period when Grayson Wilson connected with VJ Wilkins for a touchdown.
After practice, cornerback Ashton Cunningham pointed to the veteran presence around him in the secondary.
"I've taken a lot from these older guys in the secondary. They've been here for me since I've been here. They've made this place feel like home, and they've been great with leadership on and off the field," Cunningham said after practice.
On the other side of the ball, Johnathan Montague Jr. was busy throughout the day, hauling in pass after pass in the open field from all three Boston College quarterbacks. Reed Swanson and Jackson Wade later finished off the session with touchdown grabs from Mason McKenzie.
Bill O'Brien came away encouraged by what he saw from his quarterbacks.
"I think all three of those guys have really gotten better," O'Brien said after practice about the quarterbacks. "They've all done a great job. Obviously, we have a ways to go before we play Cincinnati, but they've really improved."
Tuesday also included more special teams work for the punters and kickers, another reminder of how much Boston College is stressing field position and the overall depth in that room.
The Eagles will be back at it Wednesday as they close out the final week of training camp. Practices remain closed to the public.
