Boston College Brings A Dangerous Midseason Formula Into Florida State

Boston College's standout defense and strong rushing attack set the stage for an exciting ACC showdown with Florida State at Alumni Stadium this Saturday.

Boston College is back at Alumni Stadium on Saturday, and the Eagles will try to keep their defensive playmaking rolling when Florida State comes to Chestnut Hill for a noon kickoff.

The matchup pits Boston College, 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the ACC, against a Florida State team sitting at 3-5 and 1-4 in conference play. The game will air on ACC Network, with Jorge Sedano on play-by-play, Dave Clawson as analyst and Annabelle Hasselbeck reporting from the sideline.

On the radio side, Boston College Sports Network coverage starts 30 minutes before kickoff on WEEI 93.7 FM. Jon Meterparel will handle play-by-play alongside former BC linebacker Pete Cronan, with Scott Mutryn working the sideline.

The Eagles’ defense has been the headline through eight games. Boston College has forced 14 takeaways, including 11 interceptions and three fumble recoveries, which leads the ACC. The 11 interceptions also top the conference.

Charlie Comella has been a big part of that surge, leading the Eagles with four interceptions in 2026. That total is tied for sixth-most nationally.

Boston College has also been tough against the pass, allowing 188.5 passing yards per game, good for third in the ACC. KP Price is setting the tone in the middle, leading the ACC with 37 solo tackles and reaching the 250-career-tackle mark at Duke on Oct. 31 after an eight-tackle performance.

Anthony Palano has been right there with him. He ranks fourth in the ACC in total tackles with 69 and fourth in solo tackles with 34, tying Marcus Upton in that category. Palano led the Eagles in tackles in back-to-back weeks with nine total tackles in each game.

There has been plenty of production on the back end, too. Carter Davis grabbed his second interception of 2026 at Duke and added a 100-yard return after a missed PAT, becoming the first Eagle to return a missed PAT for points since 2024.

Boston College’s offense has leaned heavily on the ground game, and Mason McKenzie has been a major part of that. He ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in total rushing yards with 638, seventh overall and best among ACC quarterbacks, and in rushing yards per game at 79.8, also seventh and best among ACC quarterbacks. McKenzie has also ripped off seven designed runs of 20-plus yards, the most among ACC quarterbacks and tied for sixth-most nationally among quarterbacks.

As a team, the Eagles are averaging 168.1 rushing yards per game, which puts them fifth in the ACC.

There is also a familiar face back in the lineup. Tight end Kaelan Chudzinski returned to the starting lineup at Duke on Oct. 31 after missing the first seven games because of injury.

It was his third career start and his first since Nov. 1, 2025, against Notre Dame. Chudzinski closed his true freshman season in 2025 with 24 catches for 313 yards and four touchdowns, the best numbers among freshman tight ends in the country.

Boston Colleges Opener Raised An Early Concern Fans Cant Ignore

Boston Colleges womens basketball season opened with a result the Eagles would rather not have on the record, as Holy Cross walked out with a 64-54 win and the early tone of the night was set by BCs uneven offense. The Eagles had trouble finding a rhythm from the floor and never really settled in, while Holy Cross looked more connected from the start and carried that edge through the game.

Coach Kate Popovec-Goss pointed to the Crusaders chemistry and to Boston Colleges execution issues after halftime, which is where the concern starts to feel bigger than one bad opener. The second half exposed the kind of slippage that can haunt a team if it lingers, and for an Eagles group trying to establish itself early, the next step is figuring out whether this was just a rough first night or the first sign of a deeper problem. Boston College Volleyball Has A Real Chance To Keep Climbing In ACC Play

Boston College volleyball heads into a double-header against Syracuse with a little more confidence than it had a week ago. The Eagles have strung together wins over Virginia Tech and Virginia, and those results have helped reinforce the idea that this group is settling in as one of the ACCs more dangerous teams, with Audrey Ross and Brooklyn Yelland playing central roles in the recent surge.

Syracuse still presents a tricky test, especially with Boston College carrying a long-term series deficit, but the recent head-to-head history has tilted the other way. Add in the fact that the Eagles and several of their players are showing up near the top of the conference in key categories, and this feels like the kind of stretch that could tell us a lot about how far Boston College can keep climbing in ACC play. Boston College Must Prove Its Late Surge Is Real At Wake Forest

Boston College mens soccer heads into the ACC Tournament as the No. 14 seed, and the draw could hardly be more revealing. The Eagles finished the regular season 6-6-3 and gave themselves a little momentum with a 5-1 win over AIC, but now the challenge rises sharply with a first-round matchup against third-seeded Wake Forest.

Wake Forest closed the regular season at 11-4-2 and comes in off a loss to Clemson, so there is at least a small opening for BC to make its late push mean something. The programs have met 22 times before, with Wake Forest holding the edge, and the Eagles will need to show their recent surge can travel if they want to keep their season alive. [Read more 🡒]
