The New England Patriots are heading back to the Super Bowl - and even one of their fiercest rivals took notice.
After New England edged out the Denver Broncos 10-7 to punch their ticket to Super Bowl LX, Tyreek Hill, star wide receiver for the division-rival Miami Dolphins, chimed in on social media. “Patriots in the Super Bowl happy for them,” Hill posted on X. It was a short message, but considering the source, it carried some weight.
Hill’s Dolphins have had a rough go of it lately. Miami has now missed the postseason two years in a row, and the organization made a major move by parting ways with head coach Mike McDaniel after the latest disappointment. That decision - combined with Hill’s own uncertain future - has cast a long shadow over what once looked like a rising contender in the AFC East.
Hill’s situation in Miami is anything but settled. Over the past year, he’s dropped a few cryptic hints on social media suggesting he might be ready for a change of scenery.
And when you look at his contract, it’s easy to see why those whispers are getting louder. He’s set to make $36 million in 2026 - none of it guaranteed.
That’s a massive number for any player, even one with Hill’s résumé, and it’s hard to imagine the Dolphins sticking to that deal as is.
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell put it bluntly: “There is a zero percent chance he’s going to play on that deal next season.” That opens up a few possibilities - a restructured contract, a trade, or an outright release - but none of them guarantee Hill stays in South Florida. And with McDaniel out, the team potentially headed for a rebuild, and the sour taste left by how things ended in 2024, it’s starting to feel like Hill may have already played his last down in a Dolphins uniform.
There’s also the health factor. Hill suffered a season-ending leg injury last season, and while he’s expected to recover, there’s no telling if he’ll return at the same All-Pro level.
Still, you’d have to think teams around the league will be lining up if he becomes available. Even at less than 100%, Hill’s speed and playmaking ability are game-changers.
His résumé speaks for itself: eight Pro Bowl selections, five First-Team All-Pro nods, and a Super Bowl ring. He’s been one of the most electric players in the league for nearly a decade.
And when it comes to the Patriots, they know all too well what Hill can do. In 11 career games against New England, he’s racked up 928 yards and seven touchdowns - numbers that have given Bill Belichick headaches for years.
He even added 42 yards in a playoff matchup against them.
So while Hill may have offered a polite nod to the Patriots’ Super Bowl run, there’s no doubt the feeling in Foxborough is mutual - they wouldn’t mind seeing him exit the division, either.
As New England prepares for yet another shot at the Lombardi Trophy, the Dolphins are staring down an offseason filled with questions. And at the center of it all is Tyreek Hill - a superstar whose next move could reshape the AFC landscape once again.
