Paul Pierce’s post-playing finances are under a microscope again, and the latest court filings paint a sharply different picture from the life he lived during his NBA days.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Pierce says he is “drowning financially” after losing his television job with Fox Sports. In the ongoing dispute with ex-wife Princess Santiago, the 49-year-old Hall of Famer is now arguing that his current income can’t keep pace with the bills he says he’s carrying every month.
The reported numbers are sizable. Pierce says he pays about $30,000 a month in child support and another $20,000 in spousal support, bringing his family obligations to roughly $50,000 before his own expenses even enter the picture. He also reportedly spends another $50,000 per month on general bills and personal costs.
That personal spending includes approximately $5,000 for groceries, $7,000 for dining out, $1,000 for clothing and $3,500 for entertainment. Those four categories add up to $16,500, with the rest tied to other bills and miscellaneous expenses.
Put together, the reported monthly commitments land at about $100,000, which would equal around $1.2 million a year if those costs stayed steady.
Pierce reportedly told the court that his most recent Fox Sports paycheck came in August. He also disclosed about $300,000 in bank funds and another $3 million in property holdings.
Those assets matter, because they make the financial picture more complicated than a simple cash shortage. Pierce is not claiming he has nothing left. Instead, the issue is whether his current situation is enough to justify reducing what he owes.
In the filing, Pierce is asking the court to end his spousal support payments to Santiago. He is also seeking $50,000 in reimbursement for legal fees, according to the report.
Santiago sees it differently. In an earlier filing, she reportedly pointed to Pierce’s NBA career earnings, which were estimated at roughly $195 million to $203 million, and argued that his past income and spending habits should factor into the court’s decision.
The timing of all this also reflects a major shift in Pierce’s post-retirement life. After ending his NBA career in 2017, he moved into television work, first at ESPN and later with Fox Sports in 2024. He appeared on “Undisputed” and then “Speak,” but both shows are now finished, leaving him without that income stream.
Pierce’s playing career still stands as one of the most decorated in Celtics history. He spent 15 seasons in Boston, won the 2008 NBA title, made 10 All-Star teams and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
But the dispute now centers on a much less glamorous set of numbers, and the court will have to decide whether his financial obligations should change.

Jayson Tatum Is Carrying The Celtics In A Way Fans Notice
Jayson Tatum kept Boston from leaving Brooklyn with anything less than a sigh of relief, finishing with 40 points and the game-winning jumper in overtime to push the Celtics past the Nets, 125-124. It was the kind of night that reminded everyone how much the offense leans on him when the game tightens up, and it also came with a notable career benchmark for one of the leagues most reliable late-game scorers.
Tatums all-around line stood out just as much as the closing shot, with his playmaking and efficiency helping Boston improve to 3-1 while the Nets dropped to 0-4. For the Celtics, it was another example of a star carrying the load in a way fans can see and appreciate every time the margin shrinks and the ball finds his hands. [Read more 🡒]
Celtics Broadcast Just Added More Fuel To The Brown Tatum Split
A broadcast moment during a Celtics game briefly turned into another reminder of how closely Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum still get linked, even now that they are on different teams. Brian Scalabrine drew attention to Browns turnover issues while praising Tatums ball security, a sharp contrast that immediately put their old partnership back in the conversation for Boston fans who spent years watching the two carry the franchise together.
Brown noticed the commentary and played it down as anything serious between him and Tatum, while Tatum declined to say much more about it. For now, the chatter is mostly part of the backdrop to a matchup that already has some intrigue, with Brown and Tatum set to see each other on November 10. [Read more 🡒]
Paul George Showed Celtics Exactly What Tatum Still Needs
Paul George offered a little of everything in Bostons wild 125-124 overtime win over Brooklyn, the kind of all-around line that can quietly shape a game even when the biggest spotlight lands elsewhere. The Celtics needed more than Jayson Tatums scoring burst to escape with their third straight win, and they got it from a deeper cast that included Derrick White and Jordan Walsh as the game swung back and forth through regulation.
Tatum finished with 40 points and still had to deliver the final answer, banking in the game-winner as time expired in overtime. Before that finish, though, the Celtics were reminded how thin the margin can be when one play changes everything, and how much value there is in another creator who can rebound, pass and keep the offense moving when Boston is under pressure.
