Montrezl Harrell is trying to claw his way back into the NBA, but one thing is already clear: he has no interest in smoothing things over with Paul George.
The former Sixth Man of the Year has been working toward another shot at the league after spending the last three years outside it. Harrell recently worked out for the Rockets’ G League affiliate, continuing a comeback push that has taken him through Australia, China, and Puerto Rico as he tries to get his body back into game shape. He has been out of the NBA since 2023, when he tore his ACL.
But while Harrell is chasing another opportunity, he also made it clear that his feelings toward George haven’t changed. The two had their well-known clash in the bubble, after an errant pass from George sparked an on-court argument during a game. That moment clearly stuck.
In a recent interview, Harrell said there’s still no relationship between them and suggested the Clippers moved on from him because of George.
“I don’t make comments about that boy. Me and that boy don’t see eye-to-eye, and we ain’t on no terms, so I don’t make comments about him. Quite frankly, I don’t care.”
That kind of lingering edge is rare this far removed from the original incident, but Harrell didn’t sound interested in revisiting the past or pretending the tension had faded. Whatever happened in the bubble, it clearly left a mark.
For the Celtics, none of this changes much. They have no need for Harrell, and there’s no indication he’ll be part of their plans.
George, meanwhile, has stayed quiet, and there’s no real reason for him to engage. He’s got bigger things in front of him as he tries to help Boston chase a title.
Still, if Harrell does find his way back into the league, the matchup would instantly become one to watch. The bad blood is still there, and if the two ever end up on the same floor again, it would not take long for that history to resurface.
