When it comes to predicting NBA Finals contenders, some folks rely on gut feelings or expert analysis. But when ESPN’s Brian Windhorst books a hotel in Boston for June, it’s a different level of confidence.
Not just a tentative booking, but a firm reservation. Why?
Because he believes the Boston Celtics might just be heading back to the NBA Finals.
Windhorst's decision isn’t just about basketball, though. With Gillette Stadium hosting World Cup matches in June, hotel rooms will be scarce.
But make no mistake, his basketball instincts are a big part of it. “If Jayson Tatum comes back, that puts the Boston Celtics a leg up,” he noted.
Tatum’s health has been the linchpin for Boston's aspirations. His Achilles injury last May shifted the dynamics of the Eastern Conference and left the Celtics with something to prove. Yet, Windhorst is optimistic about Tatum’s return and the boost it will bring to the team.
The Celtics’ journey hasn’t been without its challenges. They've faced injuries, managed player minutes, and dealt with the pressure of being a top target for opponents.

Windhorst’s travel plans also include San Antonio, where the Spurs, led by Victor Wembanyama, are making waves. “I really think that we're going to be in San Antonio or Oklahoma City in June,” he mentioned, hinting at the possible Finals destinations.
While a hotel reservation doesn’t clinch a championship, it does reflect a belief in Boston’s potential. With the postseason still a few months away, Windhorst’s confidence in the Celtics is a noteworthy endorsement.
