Jayson Tatum Extends Rare Celtics Record Again

Jayson Tatum continues to redefine Celtics history with another stellar performance, extending his unique franchise record in the process.

Jayson Tatum is carving his name into the Boston Celtics' history books in style. On Sunday, Tatum delivered a stellar performance against the Charlotte Hornets, scoring 32 points, dishing out eight assists, grabbing five rebounds, and crucially, committing zero turnovers. This effort not only helped his team but also etched his name as the youngest Celtic to reach the 14,000 career points milestone, surpassing the legendary Paul Pierce.

But Tatum wasn't done making history. By recording yet another 30-plus point, zero turnover game, he extended his lead in this unique category within the Celtics' storied franchise.

Tatum now boasts 16 such games, pulling ahead of Reggie Lewis, who has 13, and tying with the likes of Larry Bird and Jaylen Brown, both with 12. Kevin McHale and Paul Pierce round out the list with seven each.

Here's how the leaderboard looks for Celtics players with the most games scoring 30+ points without a single turnover:

  1. Jayson Tatum - 16
  2. Reggie Lewis - 13
  3. Larry Bird - 12

Jaylen Brown - 12 5.

Kevin McHale - 7 Paul Pierce - 7

Tatum's recent performances are even more impressive considering he's only 11 games into his return from Achilles rehab. Since his comeback on March 6, he's been averaging 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. It's clear that Tatum is not just back-he's back with a vengeance, and Celtics fans have every reason to be excited about what’s next for their star player.
