Jaylen Brown Just Reframed A Celtics Story Fans Still Debate

Jaylen Brown sets the record straight on trade rumors, emphasizing his commitment to the 76ers and dispelling Brian Scalabrine's retracted claims.

Jaylen Brown didn’t just answer the questions after the 76ers’ win over the Pacers. He shut them down.

Following Philadelphia’s 114-109 victory on Wednesday night, Brown addressed the report that he had delivered the Celtics an ultimatum this summer, telling the team to meet his demands or trade him. Brown made clear he wanted no part of that story sticking to him.

“I guess it is what it is. I saw that; I saw Scal has made some comments.

I don’t have any issue with Scal; I love Scal. He’s doing what he has to do; I understand why he feels the need to do that,” Jaylen Brown said.

He didn’t stop there.

“But I have no interest in letting any false allegations follow me to my next chapter here in Philadelphia. I never demanded a trade; I never made a list of ultimatums of any sort. None of that is true,” he added.

Brown said he’s moving forward with his attention locked on the 76ers.

“As of now, I’m focused on what’s in front of me here in Philadelphia. I’ve got a tremendous opportunity, and I’m looking forward to that. I’m just going to leave those questions for another time; for the season, I’m just focused on what’s in front of me,” Jaylen Brown concluded.

The comments were aimed at former NBA player Brian Scalabrine, who had previously said Brown went to the Celtics front office with an ultimatum: meet his demands or trade him. Scalabrine later walked back those remarks on live television, but that didn’t end the noise. As a Celtics broadcaster for NBC Boston, he still took shots afterward, accusing Brown of playing the victim card and pointing out during last night’s live broadcast that Brown led the league in turnovers last season.

Brown, meanwhile, has tried to keep the focus elsewhere. He wants to move past the negative baggage tied to his former team, including his beef with Jayson Tatum, and stay locked in on his on-court work.

Against Indiana, he delivered a strong all-around night. Brown finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and 1-for-3 from beyond the arc.

The game itself had plenty of drama. The 76ers gave up a 15-point first-half lead, then watched the Pacers lose a 13-point fourth-quarter advantage before Philadelphia closed the door late.

With the win, the 76ers improved to 4-1 and will next face the Knicks on Friday, October 30.

Baylor Scheierman Is Earning Celtics Trust In A Different Way

Baylor Scheierman is starting to win trust in a way that has nothing to do with his shot. In the Celtics 125-124 overtime win over the Nets, he made his biggest impact with defense, hustle and playmaking, filling the kind of glue-guy role that can change a game even when the box score does not jump off the page.

What stood out most was how he handled Michael Porter Jr., giving Boston a strong, disciplined possession on a night when every detail mattered. Scheierman also kept possessions alive and helped the Celtics create extra chances, a reminder that his value to this group can come from energy and awareness as much as scoring, which is exactly the sort of versatility Boston can keep leaning on. Celtics Guard Depth Suddenly Has A Rotation Question Fans Will Watch

Bostons guard rotation had already been a talking point with Payton Pritchard showing he can create his own offense in isolation and Jayson Tatum back from Achilles rehab with a recent 40-point night, so there has been no shortage of backcourt intrigue around the Celtics. Add in the ongoing chatter about Jaylen Browns future, and the groups depth suddenly feels like one of the more interesting roster stories hanging over the early part of the season.

Devin Carter has now rejoined the Celtics after recovering from mononucleosis, giving the team another familiar name back in the building as he finishes his recovery process. Boston converted his deal to a two-way contract ahead of the season opener, but the real question for now is when he will be ready to factor into the mix and how that timing might affect a guard room that is already carrying plenty of moving parts. Celtics Wins Keep Coming But One Early Warning Sign Wont Go Away

Bostons early response to an opening-night loss has been reassuring on the scoreboard, with three straight home wins giving the Celtics a chance to settle in while Jayson Tatum has delivered the kind of steady production the team expects. Even so, the first week has not exactly looked like a clean continuation of last seasons formula, which is part of what makes this stretch worth watching closely.

The numbers behind the wins have pointed to a team still sorting out new rotations and shifting roles, particularly in the areas that once separated Boston from most of the league. Shot volume, perimeter efficiency and work on the glass have all been uneven, and while the sample is still small, those are the kinds of warning signs that can linger long after the early standings stop mattering.
