The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics have both been mentioned as possible landing spots for Bradley Beal, but the timing of it all makes the fit a little murky.
Both teams are being viewed in a similar light right now, even if there’s still plenty of confidence around Boston. The Celtics have Joe Mazzulla and Jayson Tatum steering the ship, and there’s still belief in what they’ve built.
At the same time, the Jaylen Brown situation remains unresolved, and Miami has already landed Giannis Antetokounmpo. Even with that, questions linger if either team decides to chase another big name.
That name, according to the latest report, is Beal.
“The Heat, Celtics, and Clippers are among the teams believed to have free agent guard Bradley Beal on their radar, NBA insider Jake Fischer said during his latest live stream for Bleacher Report (video link).
“Reporting early in free agency indicated that Miami had registered some interest in Beal, though they haven’t been actively pursuing a deal as they wait on LeBron James‘ decision. Discussing the Boston possibility, Fischer noted that Beal is close with Celtics star Jayson Tatum and added that he has been advised not to rule out the C’s as a landing spot for the three-time All-Star,” Luka Adams of HoopsRumors wrote.
A few years ago, Beal would have looked like an easy answer for either roster. He could have taken some of the offensive burden off the stars around him and slid into a clear role. Right now, though, it’s harder to see why either team would be eager to jump in.
