Jaylen Brown is on a tear - and the rest of the league knows it. The Celtics star has been flat-out unguardable lately, dropping 30-plus points in seven straight games and in 11 of his last 12. With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Brown has stepped into the spotlight, not just filling the void but dominating in a way that’s impossible to ignore.
But with great play often comes greater attention - and not always the good kind.
After Boston’s 103-95 win over the Pacers on Monday, Brown took to his Twitch stream and opened up about a growing trend he’s been noticing on the court: opponents trying to throw him off his game with some next-level trash talk and borderline antics.
“Trash talk is part of the game,” Brown said. “But I gotta say, recently it’s been getting real disrespectful, for whatever reason.
Dudes are, out of left field, they’ve been talking crazy. Mad disrespectful on the court, out of nowhere.”
According to Brown, this hasn’t been a one-off thing. It’s been happening frequently - especially over the past few games.
He pointed out that in three of the last four contests, players on the opposing team have gone out of their way to provoke him. We’re not talking about your standard competitive banter, either.
Brown described opponents grabbing his jersey, calling him out by name, and trying to bait him into a reaction.
His response? Cool, calm, and unbothered.
“That s**t ain’t gonna work,” Brown said. “Keep it up.”
It’s a telling quote from a player who’s clearly locked in. Brown isn’t just playing at an elite level - he’s showing the kind of mental toughness that separates stars from superstars.
With Tatum out, the Celtics have needed more than just points from Brown. They’ve needed leadership, composure, and the ability to carry the load without getting thrown off course.
He’s delivering on all fronts.
What we’re seeing from Brown isn’t just a hot streak. It’s a player rising to the moment, embracing the pressure, and refusing to let outside noise disrupt the mission. Opponents may be trying to rattle him, but so far, all they’ve done is fuel the fire.
And if this is the version of Jaylen Brown the Celtics are getting heading into the heart of the season, they’re in good hands - and the rest of the league should take notice.
