Gilbert Arenas isn’t backing off his Paul George hype.
On the latest episode of " Gil's Arena," the former three-time All-Star dug into George’s fit with the Celtics alongside DeMarcus Cousins, Evan Turner, Brendan Haywood and Iman Shumpert, and the conversation quickly shifted into a direct comparison with Jaylen Brown.
Arenas didn’t hesitate when asked how Boston might look offensively with George in the mix.
"Offensively, they will be better," Arenas said about the Celtics. "[George] is a natural scorer."
He pushed the point even further moments later.
"Offensively, Paul George's game on a 5-out? What did he do when he came back from the 25-game suspension? The sh- he is taking accidentally makes him about 25 again."
Arenas was pointing to the 25-game suspension George served last season for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy. Once he returned, George put together a strong finish, averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals over his final 10 regular-season games.
He also made a real impact in Philadelphia's first-round playoff series win over Boston.
The confidence from Arenas stands out because Brown put up 28.7 points per game last season, and the Celtics were already elite on that side of the floor. Boston finished second in the NBA in offensive rating in both 2024-25 and 2025-26.
So what “better” ends up meaning is still open to interpretation. But Arenas clearly believes George is ready to deliver a major offensive boost in Boston.
