The latest wave of speculation started after Curry was seen at Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend, where Tatum was also playing a round. That alone was enough to send Boston fans back into overdrive after a false Curry trade rumor had already spread online. The rumor began with a Sports Illustrated trade idea before mutating into something Celtics fans briefly treated like real news.
But the golf sighting doesn’t point to a move to Boston. According to Cape Cod News, the day at the course included former United States President Barack Obama, who was there celebrating his birthday. Allen Gunn of Cape Cod News wrote that Obama “teed it up alongside two-time National Basketball Association MVP and 12-time All-Star selection Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.”
Gunn also noted that “It was an all-around star-studded day on property as Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum was playing a round of golf a few groups ahead of the 44th President of the United States.”
The setup was enough to light up the internet again, with Celtics fans reviving the same jersey-swap chatter that circulated last weekend.

Still, there’s nothing here that suggests Curry is headed to Boston anytime soon. The sighting just happened to involve two stars in the same place on the same day.
And if the whole thing feels familiar, that’s because Curry and Tatum have already spent time together away from the court. They were teammates on Team USA during the 2024 Olympics and played golf together in the lead-up to the tournament.
So yes, Celtics fans have a reason to pay attention. But this one looks like golf, not a blockbuster.
