The Celtics may not be finished shopping, and Bradley Beal has surfaced as a name to watch.
NBA insider Jake Fischer said Boston is among the teams in the mix for the unrestricted free agent, alongside the Heat and Clippers. Fischer also noted that Beal’s next move is being affected by LeBron, though not held up by him.
"I was told today that Bradley Beal’s decision is not exactly being held up by LeBron, but is being impacted by it," said Fischer. "I do think there’s some Miami interest there, and I would not rule out Boston for Beal because of the connection with Jayson Tatum."
Beal, now 33, was last an All-Star in 2020-21, when he put up a career-high 31.3 points per game. Since then, his scoring has dropped every season. In 2025-26, he averaged a career-low 8.2 points across six games with the Clippers.
The Boston angle makes sense because of his history with Tatum. The two are both from St.
Louis, grew up as childhood friends and attended the same high school. They were also set to share a Team USA roster at the Paris Olympics, which would have been their first run as teammates, but Beal entered health and safety protocols before the tournament and was replaced.
"Jayson and I have a special relationship," Beal said before the Olympics.
Boston also has guard minutes available, which only adds to the fit. The bigger question is whether the Celtics would rather use those opportunities on a younger player.
