Boston Legend Loses $200 Million Fortune

Despite a lucrative NBA career, Paul Pierce finds himself in hot water as court documents unveil his staggering monthly expenses and ongoing financial strife.

Paul Pierce’s finances are now part of a messy court fight, and the numbers paint a stark picture. The Celtics icon, who made his fortune over a 19-year NBA career, says he’s “drowning financially” after losing his Fox Sports job, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

Those filings lay out monthly obligations that top $100,000 when everything is added together. Pierce reportedly pays about $30,000 a month in child support and another $20,000 in spousal support, leaving him with roughly $50,000 in required payments before he even gets to his own living costs.

The spending doesn’t stop there. The court documents say Pierce also puts another $50,000 a month toward general bills and personal expenses.

That includes about $5,000 for groceries, $7,000 for dining out, $1,000 for clothing and $3,500 for entertainment. Those four items add up to $16,500, with the rest tied to other bills and miscellaneous costs.

Taken together, the reported figures put his monthly commitments at roughly $100,000, which would come out to about $1.2 million a year if nothing changes.

Pierce reportedly told the court that his last Fox Sports paycheck came in August. He also disclosed around $300,000 in bank funds and another $3 million in property holdings.

That money complicates his claim. The filings do not suggest he’s out of assets, only that he says his current situation makes it hard to keep up with everything he owes. The dispute is really about whether those circumstances justify changing his required payments.

Pierce is asking the court to end his spousal support payments to Santiago. He is also seeking reimbursement of $50,000 in legal fees, according to the filing.

Santiago sees it differently. In an earlier court filing, she reportedly pointed to Pierce’s NBA earnings, estimated at approximately $195 million to $203 million over his career, and argued that his past income and spending history should factor into the court’s decision.

The legal battle comes during a turbulent stretch in Pierce’s post-playing career. After retiring from the NBA in 2017, he moved into television, first with ESPN, then with Fox Sports in 2024 after leaving ESPN in 2021. His work at Fox included appearances on “Undisputed” and later “Speak,” but both shows have since ended, and he no longer has that TV income.

Pierce’s place in basketball history isn’t in question. He spent 15 seasons with the Celtics, won the 2008 NBA championship, made 10 All-Star teams and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.

Now the issue is far more mundane and far more personal: whether his finances warrant a change in what he pays. That decision now belongs to the court.

Jayson Tatum Is Carrying The Celtics In A Way Fans Notice

Jayson Tatum kept Boston from leaving Brooklyn with anything less than a sigh of relief, finishing with 40 points and the game-winning jumper in overtime to push the Celtics past the Nets, 125-124. It was the kind of night that reminded everyone how much the offense leans on him when the game tightens up, and it also came with a notable career benchmark for one of the leagues most reliable late-game scorers.

Tatums all-around line stood out just as much as the closing shot, with his playmaking and efficiency helping Boston improve to 3-1 while the Nets dropped to 0-4. For the Celtics, it was another example of a star carrying the load in a way fans can see and appreciate every time the margin shrinks and the ball finds his hands. [Read more 🡒]

Celtics Broadcast Just Added More Fuel To The Brown Tatum Split

A broadcast moment during a Celtics game briefly turned into another reminder of how closely Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum still get linked, even now that they are on different teams. Brian Scalabrine drew attention to Browns turnover issues while praising Tatums ball security, a sharp contrast that immediately put their old partnership back in the conversation for Boston fans who spent years watching the two carry the franchise together.

Brown noticed the commentary and played it down as anything serious between him and Tatum, while Tatum declined to say much more about it. For now, the chatter is mostly part of the backdrop to a matchup that already has some intrigue, with Brown and Tatum set to see each other on November 10. [Read more 🡒]

Paul George Showed Celtics Exactly What Tatum Still Needs

Paul George offered a little of everything in Bostons wild 125-124 overtime win over Brooklyn, the kind of all-around line that can quietly shape a game even when the biggest spotlight lands elsewhere. The Celtics needed more than Jayson Tatums scoring burst to escape with their third straight win, and they got it from a deeper cast that included Derrick White and Jordan Walsh as the game swung back and forth through regulation.

Tatum finished with 40 points and still had to deliver the final answer, banking in the game-winner as time expired in overtime. Before that finish, though, the Celtics were reminded how thin the margin can be when one play changes everything, and how much value there is in another creator who can rebound, pass and keep the offense moving when Boston is under pressure.
