Jeremy Swayman Stuns Bruins Fans With Bold Return to Practice

With an emotional return to practice, Jeremy Swayman focuses on readiness and respect ahead of the Bruins' playoff push.

The Bruins’ gold medalists have returned to Boston, and there's a palpable buzz in the air. Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman, fresh off their Olympic triumph with Team USA, made a stop at the White House on Tuesday before diving back into NHL action. Swayman wasted no time, hitting the ice for practice on Wednesday, and both skaters are set to join the morning skate on Thursday.

The past week was nothing short of a whirlwind for the US Olympic team. From Milan to Miami, and finally to Washington, DC, the players have now reunited with their NHL squads. Tuesday marked the end of their immediate celebrations, capped off by attending the State of the Union.

Reflecting on the White House visit, Swayman shared, “It was an incredible honor. Representing our country and celebrating a gold medal for the United States was something we truly embodied and were grateful to be a part of.”

Navigating the logistics of their return was no small feat. “It was a logistical nightmare, I’m sure, for our PR people,” Swayman noted.

“They did a great job getting us back safe and sound. We were just excited to return to the US and get back to our jobs.”

The US Men’s team has been in the spotlight, not just for their victory but also due to comments made by President Trump, which stirred controversy. Swayman acknowledged the team’s misstep in handling the situation.

“We should have reacted differently,” he admitted. “We have so much respect for the women’s team and are grateful to share the gold medal with them.

Now that we’re home, we can celebrate together and appreciate the incredible support from the USA.”

Swayman also spoke about the emotional moment of embracing his Bruins teammate, Charlie McAvoy, after their gold medal win. “It was a full embrace, man,” he said.

“Charlie is the most deserving on that team. He’s faced adversity head-on and led us with his play.

I’m just so proud of him and his accomplishments.”

After practice, Swayman stayed on the ice for extra reps, a testament to his dedication. Coach Marco Sturm explained, “That was totally his choice. They came in very late, but he wanted to feel the ice.”

Swayman is eager to jump back into the action. “I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“Whenever my name is called, I’ll be ready. I wanted to get back on the ice with these guys and push for playoffs.”

The Bruins are gearing up for their postseason push, sitting at 69 points and four points ahead of Columbus for the second wild card spot. They’ll face the Blue Jackets on Thursday night at the Garden, with both McAvoy and Swayman set to practice beforehand. The excitement is building, and the Bruins are ready to make their mark.
