BOSTON - The Bruins were back on the ice Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Ice Arena, with Marco Sturm still splitting the club into two practice groups as training camp moves along.
Boston has already stacked up two preseason wins, edging the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Sunday before rolling past the Philadelphia Flyers 5-1 on Tuesday at TD Garden. The final two exhibition games come on the road this week, with the Flyers on Thursday and the Capitals on Friday in their home buildings.
With opening night now just six days away, one of the more interesting camp storylines continues to be Mikey Eyssimont, who made his presence felt against Philadelphia. He opened the scoring for the Bruins in the first period and then finished things off with his second goal of the night late in the third.
“I’ve always prided myself on being able to score goals. Obviously, that’s not the main role that I serve in this league, but it definitely helps,” Eyssimont said.
“It feels good. I try to go into every camp feeling really good…I think it just speaks to my preparation.”
Eyssimont, 30, signed a two-year deal with Boston in July 2025 and is in the mix for a bottom-six spot on the nightly roster. He has spent the first week of camp on a third line with Tanner Jeannot and Dans Locmelis, including Wednesday’s workout with Group A.
“This season is the best I’ve felt, as far as my body feeling healthy, feeling explosive, feeling quick and powerful and healthy overall. It’s something I put a lot of time into,” Eyssimont said.
“It’s not always adding things in and doing more and more and more. It’s easy to kind of get into that habit; you just get too tired.
For me, it was taking things out, simplifying things, picking two or three things you really want to focus on.”
