Doug Martin's Arrest Footage Released Before Mysterious Death

Police footage reveals the tumultuous final moments of former NFL star Doug Martin's life, shedding light on his struggles with mental health.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, former All-Pro running back Doug Martin passed away last October while in police custody. While the investigation into his cause of death is ongoing, new footage has surfaced, shedding light on his final moments.

The video, a mix of police cam and RING door camera footage, captures Martin fleeing from police, attempting to enter a private residence, and appearing to speak to no one. During the pursuit, officers detained him, and he began to scream as they handcuffed him.

Tragically, Martin became unresponsive and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Reports indicate he suffered an unspecified "medical emergency."

Martin's family shared that he had been grappling with mental health challenges for years, describing him as "overwhelmed and disoriented" on the night of the incident.

Doug Martin's career was marked by explosive talent and resilience. At Boise State University, he was a standout from 2008 to 2011, amassing over 3,400 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns. His senior year was particularly memorable, earning him first-team All-Mountain West honors and a dominant performance in the 2011 Las Vegas Bowl, which boosted his draft prospects.

Selected 31st overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2012 NFL Draft, Martin made an immediate impact. Known as the "Muscle Hamster," he rushed for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie season, including a remarkable 251-yard, four-touchdown game against the Oakland Raiders-a performance etched in NFL history.

Though injuries hampered his progress in the following seasons, Martin bounced back in 2015 with another Pro Bowl-worthy year, rushing for 1,402 yards. After six seasons with the Buccaneers, he joined the Oakland Raiders in 2018, delivering a solid comeback before retiring.

Over his NFL tenure, Martin accumulated more than 5,300 rushing yards and earned two Pro Bowl selections, solidifying his status as one of the Buccaneers’ top running backs of the 2010s. His legacy on the field remains a testament to his talent and perseverance.
