Boise State’s remarkable run finally hit a wall Sunday night, as Texas Tech handed the Broncos a 2-0 defeat and brought an end to a program-record 17-match unbeaten streak.
The Broncos entered the match at 2-1-1 and had not tasted defeat since a 1-0 loss to UTEP on Sept. 7, 2025. Their unbeaten stretch, which began on Sept. 11, 2025, stood as the longest in program history before the Red Raiders stopped it cold.
Texas Tech struck first in the 17th minute when Taylor Zdrojewski finished Reese Liner’s free kick, placing the ball into the bottom-left corner for a 1-0 lead. The Red Raiders took that edge into halftime after both sides put two shots on goal on the board, with Texas Tech holding a 7-3 advantage in total shots.
Boise State keeper Ava De Leest helped keep things within reach early in the second half, making two more saves, but Zdrojewski found the net again in the 62nd minute to push the margin to 2-0.
Texas Tech ended the night with a 15-7 edge in shots. De Leest finished with a season-high four saves.
“Well, tonight’s a lovely blend of pride and disappointment,” head coach Jim Thomas said. “We were challenged tonight unlike we’ve been challenged in what feels like years, in front of a great crowd and against a department dripping with competitive class. So, to see the game ebb and flow and ultimately be decided by only a few moments is disappointing, but that disappointment is vastly overshadowed by the pride I have for our players and staff and the tremendous game they played tonight.”
The setback also snapped Boise State’s 11-match unbeaten streak on the road, which was the second-longest such run in program history.
Boise State returns home to face Idaho State on Sunday, August 30, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. MT.

Boise State opened fall camp on Aug. 3 with a different kind of backdrop this year, stepping into its first season in the revamped Pac-12 while still trying to answer a few familiar questions.
