Boise State Just Made A Blue Turf Decision Fans Will Debate

Boise State takes a bold step in securing its athletic future with a new sponsorship that brings big-brand visibility to their iconic blue field.

Boise State’s famous blue turf is getting a new neighbor.

On Tuesday afternoon, Boise State Athletics announced a sponsorship agreement with Progressive Insurance that will place the company’s logo directly beneath the giant blue and orange Bronco head at the center of Albertsons Stadium. The field is brand-new, and now it will carry a corporate mark alongside one of college football’s most recognizable visuals.

The Broncos are one of 13 schools nationwide to strike a deal with Progressive, and the only one outside a Power Four conference. The full list includes Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, SMU, Syracuse, Texas Tech, USC, and Wake Forest.

“... Integrating Progressive in an intentional and strategic way on The Blue was important to all of those involved,” Boise State Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey said in a news release.

“This is about making an investment in the future of our student-athletes and Boise State Athletics,” he continued.

The university did not disclose how much money is attached to the sponsorship.

Progressive’s footprint at Albertsons Stadium won’t stop with the field logo. The company will also show up in in-game videoboard messages, in-venue LED signage, digital and social media integrations, and other game-day experiences.

“Sponsorships like this are an important part of creating a sustainable future for Boise State Athletics,” said Landon Day, vice president and general manager of Bronco Sports Properties. “Progressive’s investment provides Boise State with additional resources to continue elevating the game-day experience for Bronco Nation while supporting the department’s long-term growth.”

Bronco Sports Properties serves as the multimedia rights holder and marketing arm for Boise State Athletics.

Along with Progressive’s logo, Boise State’s blue turf will also feature a pair of all-white Pac-12 logos and two Albertsons Stadium logos. Fans will see the new setup for the first time when Boise State hosts Memphis on Sept. 12 in the second game of the season.

Boise States Week 1 Threat To Oregon Is Starting To Take Shape

Fall camp has given Boise State a clearer picture of what it wants to be when Oregon arrives in Week 1, and the early signs are encouraging on offense. The Broncos have real strength in the backfield with Dylan Riley and Sire Gaines leading a group that could make life difficult on opposing fronts, while quarterback Maddux Madsen has a better-looking cast around him thanks to the new wide receiver additions.

The line remains the part still coming into focus. Boise State likes what it has at left tackle and right guard, but several other spots are still being sorted out, which makes the next stretch of camp especially important. If the Broncos can settle those battles and keep the offense on its current trajectory, theyll have a more complete answer ready for one of the seasons biggest opening tests. [Read more 🡒]

For a brand that has built so much of its identity around that unique field, even a single new marking carries plenty of weight. Boise State said the partnership is intended to support the athletic departments growth and help strengthen its long-term stability, and the Broncos are one of 13 schools working with Progressive. Boise State May Have Found The Answer To A Growing Backcourt Concern

Boise States backcourt picture got a little clearer with the addition of Lamar Washington, a former Georgia Tech shooting guard who brings one year of eligibility to the Broncos for the upcoming season. With the roster still taking shape, his arrival gives the staff another proven piece to plug into a lineup that already had some projection questions, and it adds an experienced guard option at a position that mattered even before this latest move.

Washingtons path to Boise State comes with a built-in layer of urgency, because the Broncos were already dealing with a growing concern on the perimeter. The roster now has to account for a key guard situation that could reshape the starting five, and Washingtons fit will be worth watching as Boise State sorts out how the backcourt will line up once the season opens.
