Boise State’s quarterback board took a hit Saturday morning when Zeke Thomas, a three-star class of 2028 prospect from Willamette High School in Oregon, backed off his commitment to the Broncos.
Thomas made the announcement on X, saying, “After a lot of thought, conversations with my family, and prayer, I have decided to decommit from Boise State,” Thomas wrote on X. “Thank you to (co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Zak Hill) and the entire Boise State staff for believing in me early and for the way they have treated me and my family. This was not an easy decision, and I have nothing but respect for the program and Bronco Nation.”
The 6-foot, 195-pound quarterback has also been active on the baseball side of his recruiting profile. He took an unofficial baseball visit to Pac-12 rival Oregon State last weekend, and he is set for another unofficial visit there this weekend as the Beavers host FCS Montana on the gridiron. Thomas, a pitcher and outfielder, is rated the No. 1 class of 2028 baseball recruit in Oregon.
Oregon State has won three baseball national titles since 2006.
On the football side, Thomas remains one of the top young quarterbacks in the region. He is rated the No. 49 quarterback prospect nationally and the No. 2 recruit in Oregon for the class of 2028, with reported offers from Boise State, Idaho, Oregon State and Sacramento State. He had been Boise State’s lone class of 2028 commit.
Thomas put together a strong sophomore season at Willamette, completing 166 of 252 passes for 2,652 yards with 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also ran for three scores as the Wolverines went 10-1, won the 6A South-Central Conference title and reached the quarterfinals of the 6A state playoffs.
This fall, he has opened his junior year by going 46 of 89 passing for 479 yards with seven total touchdowns and two interceptions through the first three games. Willamette is 2-2 against a tough schedule.
Boise State still has a quarterback commitment in the class of 2027 from Kael Snyder of Arizona’s Perry High School. Snyder is a three-star prospect, listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, and is rated the No. 38 quarterback nationally and the No. 9 prospect in Arizona by On3. His other reported suitors included Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State and Washington.
The Broncos have also seen their share of quarterback movement in the class of 2026 cycle. Bryson Beaver of Vista Murrieta High School in California, Tradon Bessinger of Davis High School in Utah and Jackson Presley of Glacier High School in Montana all decommitted. Beaver later flipped from Boise State to Oregon and transferred to Georgia after spring practice, while Bessinger signed with Iowa and Presley is now at Portland State.
