Boise State kept its home field humming Sunday, knocking off Idaho State 3-1 and stretching its unbeaten run in Boise to 10 matches.
The Broncos did most of the damage early and never really let the Bengals settle in. Boise State finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots, and Campbell Wilson got the first look on goal in the 10th minute before the breakthrough came nine minutes later. Sophie Schmautz buried the opener in the 19th minute, finishing low into the bottom-left corner to put the Broncos ahead 1-0.
That was enough to send Boise State into halftime with control of the match. Idaho State didn’t manage a shot on goal in the first half, while the Broncos held a 5-2 edge in shots at the break.
The pressure only grew after halftime. Wilson made it 2-0 in the 50th minute with a strike into the top-right corner, then Schmautz struck again three minutes later to finish off her first career brace. Wilson picked up the assist on the second Schmautz goal.
Idaho State finally got on the board in the 88th minute, when Saydree Cooke scored off a pass from Samantha Fenske, but the late goal came too late to change the outcome.
Schmautz finished with her second and third goals of the season, giving her seven and eight for her career. Wilson added her fourth goal of the season and the latest in what’s been a strong run for her, including her second match-winning goal, which leads the team this season.
The win also kept a major home streak intact. Boise State’s 10-match unbeaten run in Boise is tied for the second-longest in program history and dates back to Sept.
11, 2025. The Broncos have scored at least three goals in a match three times this season and have put up 15 or more shots in every home game so far.
Against Idaho State, Boise State continues to own the series. The Broncos are now 14-8-3 all-time against the Bengals and 9-2-1 at home in the matchup. Boise State hasn’t lost to Idaho State since 2013.
Afterward, head coach Jim Thomas pointed to the way his team is starting to connect.
“This team is starting to see what they’re capable of,” head coach Jim Thomas said. “They’re starting to trust one another and play fast. There were a lot more interactions, combinations and moving up the ball in the second half.”
Boise State will be back at Boas Soccer Complex on Thursday, Sept. 3, when it hosts UC San Diego. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.
