Patrick Mahomes' Father Arrested Again On Disturbing Charges

Patrick Mahomes Sr.s latest legal troubles raise new questions about his probation status and long history of alcohol-related offenses.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested for Probation Violation Amid Ongoing Legal Troubles

As the Kansas City Chiefs continue their run as one of the NFL’s modern dynasties, the spotlight around quarterback Patrick Mahomes has only grown brighter. And while most of the attention stays on his brilliance on the field-or occasionally shifts to his high-profile inner circle-his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., has once again found himself in the headlines for off-the-field issues.

Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball pitcher, was arrested Tuesday in Texas for violating the terms of his probation, which stemmed from a previous DUI conviction. According to reports, the violation is related to alcohol consumption, a direct breach of the conditions laid out in his probation agreement.

He was booked into Smith County Jail shortly before 9 a.m. local time. As of now, no court date has been scheduled.

This marks at least the fifth arrest for the elder Mahomes, whose legal troubles have spanned nearly two decades and multiple states. His most recent and high-profile arrest came in early 2024, just days before his son led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl 58 victory. That incident resulted in a guilty plea and a five-year probation sentence, with the first year requiring “intense supervision.”

The 2024 charge was classified as a third or more offense for driving while intoxicated-an indication of a longer history with similar offenses. Records show Mahomes Sr. had previously been arrested for DWI in 2018.

He served a 40-day jail sentence for that offense, split across weekends over a two-year span. Additionally, court documents from the 2024 case revealed an earlier DWI arrest in South Dakota back in 2008.

Beyond the DUI-related incidents, Mahomes Sr. was also arrested for public intoxication in 2016 during a Texas Tech football game-an event that drew attention at the time as his son was then the starting quarterback for the Red Raiders.

Now, with this latest arrest tied to a probation violation, Mahomes Sr. faces renewed legal challenges. Given the pattern of past incidents, this development could draw closer scrutiny from the courts and the public alike.

While Patrick Mahomes Jr. continues to build a Hall of Fame-worthy career and lead one of the NFL’s most dominant teams, his father’s ongoing legal troubles remain a difficult and very public chapter in the Mahomes family story.
