Mo Arthur and Payton Washington Stun with New NCATA Weekly Honors

No. 1 A&T's Mo Arthur and Payton Washington continue their remarkable streaks, leading their team to dominate NCATA awards week after week.

In the world of collegiate acrobatics and tumbling, the Baylor Bears are making waves, and it's all thanks to standout performances from athletes like Mo Arthur, Payton Washington, and Leavy McDonald. These athletes have been turning heads with their exceptional skills and consistency, earning well-deserved accolades from the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA).

Mo Arthur, hailing from Owensville, Missouri, has been a force to be reckoned with. She just snagged her fifth consecutive Freshman of the Week honor, a testament to her immediate impact on the team.

Competing in eight heats and the team event, Arthur dazzled with two perfect 10.0 scores in the Compulsory Toss and Inversion Pyramid heats. Her knack for precision and timing has been nothing short of spectacular, and her five perfect scores this season highlight her consistency as both a base and mid-level performer.

Arthur kicked off the meet with a strong showing in Compulsory Acro, scoring 9.65/10 as a base. She continued to impress in the Compulsory Pyramid with a 9.85/10 as a mid-level.

Her role as a base in the Compulsory Toss was pivotal, securing a perfect 10.00 with her elite execution. In the 5-Element Acro heat, she scored an impressive 9.90/10, and her performances in the Heat 1 and Heat 2 Pyramid further solidified her reputation, earning her another perfect 10.00 and a 9.75/10, respectively.

Not to be outdone, Payton Washington claimed her 10th Athlete of the Week honor. Competing in nine heats and the team event, Washington led Baylor to seven scores of 9.50 or higher.

Her perfect 10 in compulsory toss and a 9.90 in open tumbling showcased her exceptional difficulty and execution. As the top in Compulsory Acro and Compulsory Toss, Washington's elite body control and amplitude were on full display.

In Optional Acro, Washington's performance in the 7-Element heat, scoring 9.75/10, was a highlight, particularly her hand-to-foot sequence. Her prowess continued in the Heat 2 Pyramid and various tumbling heats, where she consistently delivered high scores. During the Team Event, Washington executed a series of complex skills, reflecting her elite difficulty and execution throughout.

Leavy McDonald earned an honorable mention for Specialist of the Week with a technically demanding performance. Competing in eight individual heats and the team event, McDonald excelled in the pyramid heats, showcasing her strength as a mid-level base. Her performances in the 7-Element Acro and various pyramid heats demonstrated her ability to execute elite-level skills with precision.

As the Bears take a short break before hosting Duquesne on March 28, these athletes have set a high bar for the season. Their performances are a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they promise to keep the excitement alive for Baylor fans.
