Baylor's Cambree Creager Dominates, Earns National Pitcher of the Week Honors
In the world of college softball, few performances have been as electrifying as Cambree Creager's recent showcase for Baylor. The Georgetown, Texas native was nearly untouchable, earning the prestigious D1 Softball's National Pitcher of the Week honors.
Creager's mastery on the mound led the Bears to a flawless 4-0 week, highlighted by a conference-opening sweep against Iowa State. With a 3-0 record and a razor-thin 0.49 ERA, she hurled 14.1 innings, striking out 17 batters while conceding just one earned run across three appearances.
Kicking off the week, Creager delivered a complete-game shutout against SFA, racking up a career-high eight strikeouts. She followed this with a dominant performance against Iowa State, allowing just one run over five innings, which ended her streak of 11.1 scoreless innings.
In the series finale, Creager showcased her versatility. Called from the bullpen after Iowa State erased a 4-0 Baylor lead, she shut down the Cyclones with 2.1 innings of work, fanning five and securing a series sweep for the Bears in dramatic fashion.
Currently, Creager stands tall among the Big 12's elite, ranking seventh in innings pitched (54.2) and tied for sixth in strikeouts (47). Over her last 11 appearances, she has compiled a 6-1 record with 43 strikeouts and a 1.42 ERA across 49.1 innings. Notably, she is Baylor's first national pitcher of the week since Dariana Orme in 2023.
Looking ahead, Creager and the 17-6 Bears are set to embark on a Florida road trip, beginning with a matchup against Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field. They aim to extend their momentum against No. 17 UCF later in the week.
