Taliah Scott Earns Sixth Big 12 Starting Five Nod After Another Stellar Week for Baylor

Taliah Scott continues to make her presence felt in the Big 12-and she's not slowing down anytime soon.

The redshirt sophomore guard has been named to the Big 12 Starting Five for the sixth time this season, a testament to the consistency and firepower she’s brought to the floor week in and week out. The recognition follows another standout stretch where Scott averaged 21.5 points across Baylor’s wins over Cincinnati and Arizona State.

What’s most impressive is how she’s getting it done. Scott knocked down seven threes over those two games and was nearly automatic from the line, going 14-for-16. She also logged over 35 minutes per game, showing just how central she’s become to Baylor’s rhythm and success on both ends of the court.

This latest honor adds to Baylor’s rich history of individual accolades, marking the program’s 149th all-time weekly award from the Big 12. For Scott, it’s her eighth weekly recognition overall, a haul that includes two national nods as the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week-one of the most prestigious weekly honors in college basketball.

She’s not the only one turning heads across the conference this week. TCU’s Olivia Miles was named Big 12 Player of the Week, Kansas’ Jaliya Davis took home Freshman of the Week honors, and both Colorado’s Jade Masogayo and West Virginia’s Jordan Harrison were spotlighted as top performers.

But back to Scott-because there’s a milestone looming. Through just 47 career games, she’s already piled up 990 points.

That includes 487 in a Baylor jersey, and she’s now just 10 points shy of the 1,000-point mark. It’s a number that not only reflects her scoring prowess but also the impact she’s had in such a short time.

That milestone could come as soon as Thursday, when No. 12 Baylor hosts No.

17 TCU at Foster Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

CT in a matchup that carries weight in the standings and plenty of rivalry energy. It’s the first of two regular-season meetings between the two, and the Bears will be looking to protect home court in a game that’s got postseason implications written all over it.

The night won’t just be about basketball, either. Fans heading to Foster Pavilion can expect a full slate of promotions, including the “Go Gold” event presented by Magnolia Realty.

That means gold jersey giveaways, concession specials, and even a pregame performance from nationally known magician Carl Michael. Student shuttles and $5 upper bowl seats are also part of the package, making it one of the most anticipated home games of the season.

With Scott heating up and a major milestone within reach, Thursday night in Waco could be one to remember.
