Baylor Women’s Tennis Returns to the Court Against SMU After Two-Week Break
After a two-week layoff, Baylor Women’s Tennis is back in action this Sunday, hosting SMU at noon CT at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. The Bears are looking to shake off the rust and find their rhythm again after withdrawing from the ITA Kickoff Weekend due to weather issues in Austin.
This home matchup offers Baylor a chance to re-establish momentum early in the spring dual-match season - and they’re bringing some serious talent to the court. The Bears boast three nationally ranked singles players: No.
40 Na Dong, No. 57 Zuzanna Kubacha, and No.
99 Mu-Jie Tzeng. In doubles, Baylor also brings firepower with two ranked pairings - Kennedy Gibbs and Dong at No. 38, and the Kubacha-Dong duo at No.
On the other side of the net, SMU arrives with a 2-1 record and plenty of confidence. The Mustangs opened their season strong, notching wins over Air Force and Abilene Christian in a doubleheader where they dropped just one point in each match.
Their lone loss came in a competitive 4-2 battle at Wichita State. Before facing Baylor, SMU will first take on Arizona in a Big 12 matchup on Saturday morning.
