In Waco, Texas, the Baylor acrobatics & tumbling team delivered a thrilling victory over Oregon, securing a 278.050-272.530 win at the Ferrell Center. The Bears, now 4-0, extended their impressive winning streak to 54 matches, dominating Oregon for the 14th consecutive time.
Coach Felecia Mulkey praised the crowd's energy, noting their crucial support throughout the meet. "They really came in clutch for us at the end," she remarked.
The meet kicked off with the Compulsory event, where both teams showcased their skills. Baylor edged ahead, winning three out of four heats and finishing with a slight lead of 38.10 to Oregon's 37.65.
In the Acro event, both teams delivered strong performances, but Baylor maintained their advantage with a score of 67.55 to Oregon's 66.45 after two events.
The Pyramid event saw both teams executing high-level routines. Despite a fall in Baylor's Open heat, they kept their lead, ending with a score of 28.80 against Oregon's 29.65.
The Toss event featured standout performances, with Baylor's Washington and Tannehill shining in the Synchronized heat. The Bears finished the event with a total of 125.10, maintaining a one-point lead over Oregon.
In the Tumbling event, Baylor's athletes continued to impress. Emily Bott and Lawrence Owens delivered a strong performance, and the team ended the event with a score of 57.150, extending their lead to 182.250 against Oregon's 180.000.
The final Team event saw Baylor sealing the victory with a score of 95.80, bringing their total to 278.050, ahead of Oregon's 272.530.
Key highlights included Makayla Vasquez and Mo Arthur's innovative 7-element routine, featuring a never-before-seen one-arm handstand transition.
