Baylor Stuns at TCU Invitational with Multiple Wins and a Record Performance

Baylor's track and field team showcased exceptional talent with multiple victories at the TCU Alumni Invitational, setting promising tones for the season ahead.

Baylor's Track Stars Shine Bright at TCU Alumni Invitational

In Fort Worth, Texas, Baylor's track and field team delivered a stellar performance at the TCU Alumni Invitational, with the sprint crew capturing three event victories and senior Tenly Kuhn dominating the pole vault.

Sophomore Abbas Ali and freshman Success Oyibu led the charge by sweeping the men's and women's 200 meters. Senior Laurenz Colbert kicked off his final outdoor season in style, clinching the 100 meters with an impressive 10.37 seconds.

Ali set a personal record in the men's 200, clocking in at 20.72 seconds, narrowly edging out East Texas A&M's Enoch Fosuhene, who finished at 20.80. Baylor's Ricquan Graham and Aren Spencer also made strong showings, securing seventh and eighth places.

The men's 100 meters was another highlight for Baylor, with Colbert leading the pack. Freshman Bailey Hashmi and sophomore Austen Diggs rounded out the top five, showcasing Baylor's depth in sprinting talent.

On the women's side, Success Oyibu made her collegiate outdoor debut unforgettable, posting a personal best of 23.11 seconds in the 200 meters, winning by nearly half a second. Sophomore Hannah Lowe also impressed, finishing sixth with a near personal best.

In the pole vault, Tenly Kuhn entered the competition at 13-7, effortlessly clearing 14-3 ¼ on her second attempt. While she passed on the next height, her efforts were unmatched, with Peyton Berry and Emily Cloutier tying for second at 12-5 ½.

Friday saw Baylor's Kiara Wesseh and Logan Todorovich tie for sixth in the high jump, both clearing 5-5. Meanwhile, sophomore Joshua Johnson made strides in the shot put, surpassing his previous best by nearly a foot to finish sixth.

Across the globe at the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, Baylor junior Demario Prince broke his own school record, finishing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.43 seconds, just a hair behind the winner.

Baylor coach Michael Ford, who traveled to Poland, witnessed former Baylor standout Trayvon Bromell secure a bronze medal in the 60 meters, following a blistering semifinal run.

Looking ahead, Baylor is set to host the Clyde Hart Classic on March 27-28, where they aim to continue their impressive start to the season at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.
