Michael Trigg Caps Historic Season with All-America Honors as Baylor Posts Strong Postseason Recognition
WACO, Texas - It’s been a season to remember for Baylor tight end Michael Trigg, and now the accolades are rolling in to match the production. Trigg has been named to The Sporting News All-America Second Team, marking his third All-America nod of the year and cementing his place as one of the most decorated Baylor players in recent memory.
This latest honor puts Trigg in elite company. He becomes the most decorated Baylor All-American since defensive standout Jalen Pitre earned consensus honors in 2021. And when you look at what Trigg did on the field this season, it’s easy to see why his name keeps popping up on postseason lists.
The senior from Tampa, Florida, was a matchup nightmare all season long. At 6-foot-4 with soft hands and a wide catch radius, Trigg was a go-to weapon in Baylor’s passing game and one of the most productive tight ends in the nation.
He finished the 2025 campaign ranked second nationally among tight ends in receiving yards (694), fourth in receptions (50), and tied for fifth in touchdowns (6). That kind of output earned him a spot as one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award - the top honor for tight ends in college football.
But Trigg didn’t just have a good year - he rewrote the Baylor record books in the process. His 2025 season now stands as the most prolific by a tight end in program history. He owns the school’s single-season records for both receptions and receiving yards at the position and tied the mark for most touchdowns in a year by a tight end.
Looking at his full Baylor career, Trigg sits atop the all-time list for receiving yards by a tight end (1,089), while ranking second in both career receptions (80) and touchdowns (9) at the position. And he did it all in just 21 games - 17 of them starts - showcasing a consistent ability to produce at a high level.
Before arriving in Waco, Trigg had stints at USC and Ole Miss, and when you tally up his full collegiate career, the numbers are impressive: 108 catches, 1,418 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
Trigg’s standout season also earned him semifinalist recognition for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which honors the top offensive player with Texas ties. He was one of just two tight ends to make the semifinalist list. Earlier in the year, he caught national attention in Week 6 with a career-high eight receptions for 155 yards against Kansas State - the most receiving yards by a tight end in a single game in Baylor history.
Trigg’s name isn’t the only one making waves this postseason. Baylor saw a host of players earn recognition across All-America, All-Big 12, and All-Texas teams, reflecting the depth and talent spread across the roster.
