Baylor Soccer Unveils Spring Exhibition Slate Featuring Power Four Clashes and Lone Star Showdowns
WACO, Texas - After a fall campaign that saw Baylor women’s soccer break through to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and reach the Big 12 Tournament semifinals, the Bears are back at it this spring with a five-match exhibition schedule that blends in-state showdowns with high-level competition from the Power Four ranks.
Head coach Michelle Lenard announced the spring lineup on Tuesday, and it’s clear the Bears aren’t easing into the offseason. Baylor will host four of its five spring matches at Betty Lou Mays Field, giving fans in Waco plenty of chances to catch a squad that’s coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history.
The spring action kicks off under the lights on March 5, when Baylor welcomes Navarro College for a 7 p.m. matchup. From there, the Bears stay home for a pair of key tests: a 3 p.m. afternoon kickoff against UTSA on March 21, followed by a marquee clash with Big 12 rival TCU on March 27 at 7 p.m. That TCU game in particular will be one to circle - any time two conference foes meet, even in the spring, there’s an extra edge.
April brings Baylor’s lone road trip of the spring, as the Bears head north on I-35 to face Oklahoma on April 11 at Patriot Soccer Stadium on the campus of DBU. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., and the Sooners should offer a strong mid-spring benchmark for where this Baylor squad stands.
The spring slate wraps up back in Waco on April 18 with a 1 p.m. home tilt against SMU - another Texas program with a strong soccer pedigree and a matchup that should provide a fitting capstone to the offseason schedule.
This spring schedule is more than just tune-ups. It’s a chance for Lenard and her staff to evaluate rising talent, test tactical wrinkles, and build on the momentum from a 14-5-4 fall season that included four wins over nationally ranked opponents. With the bar now raised, every minute this spring matters - even if the standings don’t.
And for fans in the area, there’s added incentive: all home matches are free and open to the public. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just looking to catch some high-quality soccer, Betty Lou Mays Field will be the place to be this spring.
