In the heart of Humble, Texas, the Baylor women's golf team is set to make waves at the Chevron Collegiate, teeing off on Monday at the prestigious Golf Club of Houston. This marks just their second appearance in Texas this season, and they’re ready to bring their A-game.

The tournament is a competitive battleground, featuring 17 teams, including five top-20 powerhouses and five more within the top 50, all ranked by Scoreboard. Baylor’s head coach, Jay Goble, is thrilled about the opportunity. "It's an honor to compete at such a renowned course that once hosted the PGA Tour's Houston Open," he shared.

Baylor is riding high after a string of strong performances, recently securing a second-place finish at the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate in Tucson, trailing only top-ranked Stanford. Senior standout Silje Ohma shone brightly, tying for fifth place with a 3-under 213. This marks her second top-five finish of the year and the ninth in her impressive career.

Sophomore Malena Castro is also making her mark, with back-to-back top-15 finishes, tying for 11th at 3-over 219. Senior Bridget Boczar added to the team’s success, tying for 21st with a 6-over 222.

This week’s lineup is packed with talent, featuring Ohma and Boczar, alongside junior transfer Yurang Li, Castro, and promising freshman Amelia Wan. Coach Goble is optimistic, stating, "I’m excited for this lineup and feel that our team is trending in the right direction."

The Bears will face off against a formidable field, including No. 3 Oregon, sixth-ranked Arkansas, No.

11 Mississippi State, and No. 16 North Carolina.

Also competing are Iowa State, SMU, Indiana, TCU, Illinois, Texas State, North Texas, Maryland, UL-Monroe, UNC-Wilmington, and UTSA.
