Baylor Equestrian Just Got A Schedule Built For Another Big 12 Push

Baylor equestrian reveals a thrilling 2026-27 schedule packed with intense home meets and strategic away contests as they aim for championship glory.

Baylor equestrian now knows the road ahead.

Head coach Casie Maxwell announced the Bears’ 2026-27 schedule on Wednesday, a slate that includes seven home meets, five road meets and one neutral-site competition. Baylor opens the season at the Willis Family Equestrian Center on Sept. 17 against South Dakota State.

The fall quickly picks up speed after that. Baylor heads to Delaware State on Oct. 2 before taking on UT Martin the next day in a neutral-site meet in Dover, Del.

Then comes a three-meet home stretch in Waco, where the Bears will host Fresno State on Oct. 9, TCU on Oct. 23 and Auburn on Nov.

Baylor had success against a pair of those home opponents last season, beating both Fresno State and TCU at home. The win over the Horned Frogs was an 11-8 result on Senior Day.

The fall portion wraps up with a trip to Stillwater, Okla., where Baylor will face defending Big 12 champions Oklahoma State on Nov. 13.

After the break, the Bears return to action by hosting the University of Minnesota Crookston on Jan. 30.

A week later, Baylor meets Oklahoma State again, this time back at the Willis on Feb. 6.

The spring also sends Baylor west for a Big 12 matchup with Fresno State at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif., on Feb. 20.

From there, the Bears come back to Waco for a home meet against Georgia on Feb. 26.

Baylor closes the regular season with a trip up I-35 to Fort Worth, Texas, for a Big 12 clash with TCU on March 5.

The Bears then return home to host the Big 12 Championship on March 26-27, the same site where Baylor won the 2017 Big 12 Championship. The NCEA Championship follows from April 15-17 at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla.

Baylor Just Got A Strange New Auburn Twist Before Kickoff

Auburns season opener against Baylor is taking on an unusual off-field wrinkle before the teams ever line up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 5. The Aflac Kickoff Game is now tied to a new NIL arrangement that will bring marketing commitments, promotional appearances and a revenue-sharing component into the picture, giving the matchup a business side that goes well beyond the usual neutral-site staging.

For Baylor, it is another reminder that big nonconference games are changing fast, especially when they are played on a stage built for television and ticket sales. The setup also underscores how much the opening weekend has become about more than football alone, with up to 24 Auburn players expected to be involved in the agreement and a precedent now set that could ripple through future showcase games. Baylors Rebuilt Line Hinges On One Crucial 2026 Question

Yakiri Walker has already taken a winding path through college football, and Baylor is counting on that experience to matter in a hurry. After stops at UConn, Colorado and Memphis, the transfer center arrives as the most important piece of a rebuilt offensive line, the kind of veteran presence a staff leans on when a front has to be reassembled almost from scratch.

If Walker gets the green light from the NCAA, he is the clear candidate to anchor the middle and help fill the void left by Coleton Price, one of the Big 12s better centers a year ago. Baylor coaches see him as more than just a body in the lineup, too, believing his leadership and confidence can steady a unit that needs both, even if the final answer on his 2026 status is still hanging in the air.
