Baylor Duo Stuns As Finalists For Prestigious All-America Basketball Team

Baylor's Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Taliah Scott have been recognized as WBCA All-America finalists, highlighting their standout performances and contributions to the team.

In the world of women's college basketball, Baylor's own Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Taliah Scott are making waves as finalists for the prestigious WBCA Coaches' All-America Team. Announced this Wednesday, their selection is a testament to their standout performances and the recognition they've garnered from WBCA-member head coaches across the region.

Littlepage-Buggs, no stranger to accolades, returns to the spotlight as the only Big 12 player maintaining a double-double average for the second consecutive year. Her dominance on the boards is unmatched, leading the league in multiple rebounding categories.

Hailing from Oklahoma City, she continues to etch her name in Baylor's history books, ranking fourth in career rebounds and seventh in career starts. Notably, she’s one of only five active Division I players boasting over 1,000 rebounds and 100 steals-a true powerhouse on the court.

Meanwhile, Taliah Scott has been a scoring machine for Baylor, accounting for a significant portion of the team's offense. With a knack for getting to the line, she ranks among the top in the Big 12 for free throws and scoring metrics.

Her season highlight came with a 32-point explosion against Iowa, showcasing her scoring prowess. Scott’s rapid ascent to 1,000 career points in just 48 games ties her for the 19th-fastest in Division I since 2000.

She’s also on track to make Big 12 history, aiming to average at least 20 points while maintaining a 90 percent free-throw shooting over a full season.

While the final 10-player All-America Team will be revealed at the WBCA Convention during the women's Final Four in Phoenix, those not selected will still earn honorable mention, ensuring their efforts don’t go unnoticed.

The WBCA, founded in 1981, serves as the cornerstone for coaches of women's and girls' basketball, providing resources, networking opportunities, and a platform to celebrate excellence in the sport.

Baylor women's basketball, proudly supported by Central National Bank, continues to be a force, thanks in part to the extraordinary talents of Littlepage-Buggs and Scott. As they look ahead to the NCAA Tournament, the stage is set for these athletes to further cement their legacies.
