Colorado entered the season with momentum, but that glow faded fast in Week 3. After opening with two wins, including an upset at Georgia Tech, the Buffaloes were knocked flat in a 41-7 loss at Northwestern and now head to Waco trying to steady themselves in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
Saturday morning’s matchup at Baylor offers Colorado a chance to reset, but the road has been a rough place for the Buffaloes in conference play. They’ve dropped six straight Big 12 road games, with the neutral-site loss to BYU in the 2024 Alamo Bowl not counted in that streak. To snap it, Colorado will need a cleaner performance from quarterback Julian Lewis, who took the blame after a turnover-filled day against Northwestern.
The sophomore threw two interceptions, half of Colorado’s turnovers, though he did connect with Joseph Williams on a 50-yard touchdown pass for the Buffaloes’ lone score.
"It all starts with the quarterback, right? It all starts with me," Lewis said.
"I have to do better, just getting the ball to open guys. Just keeping everybody motivated to continue the drive.
It's all things we can fix. That's the good part about it."
Baylor, meanwhile, comes in at 2-1 after a 36-19 win over Louisiana Tech and is expecting reinforcements. Quarterback DJ Lagway is set to return after missing two games with an ankle injury suffered in the season-opening loss at Auburn.
"He's got the green light for this week," Baylor coach Dave Aranda said of Lagway, "so I'm excited for him. I think we got (Receiver Jadon Porter) coming back.

(Offensive tackle) Logan Moore's back. So we got a fair amount of guys that are back."
Porter, who had five catches for 77 yards against Auburn, hasn’t played since dealing with an undisclosed injury. He was in a walking boot on his right foot during Baylor’s Week 2 win over Prairie View A&M. Turner also missed the last two games with a hamstring injury after recording nine tackles in the Bears’ 17-16 loss to Auburn.
