Ravens Welcome Back Lamar Jackson and Roquan Smith in Full Practice Return

Lamar Jackson and key Ravens defenders made encouraging returns to practice Thursday, boosting optimism ahead of their primetime matchup with the Patriots.

The Ravens got some good news on the injury front Thursday, with two key leaders back in action ahead of their Sunday night matchup against the Patriots. Quarterback Lamar Jackson and linebacker Roquan Smith, both of whom were sidelined during Wednesday’s practice, returned as full participants-a strong sign they’re trending toward suiting up this weekend.

Jackson’s absence Wednesday was due to an illness, but it’s worth noting he’s been managing a handful of lower-body issues in recent weeks, including knee, toe, and ankle concerns. Despite the wear and tear, Jackson continues to show up when it matters, and his full participation Thursday suggests he’s ready to roll once again. For a Ravens offense that leans heavily on his dual-threat ability, that’s a major boost heading into a primetime showdown.

On the defensive side, Roquan Smith’s return is equally important. The veteran linebacker is nursing a knee injury, but like Jackson, he was a full participant Thursday.

Smith is the heartbeat of Baltimore’s defense-his sideline-to-sideline range and leadership are irreplaceable. If he’s good to go Sunday, the Ravens’ defense should remain in top form against a Patriots offense still searching for consistency.

There were other notable updates from Thursday’s session. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley and linebacker Kyle Van Noy were both back on the field, though in a limited capacity.

Stanley’s dealing with knee and ankle issues, while Van Noy is managing a quad injury. Their statuses will be worth monitoring as the week wraps up-Stanley’s presence is especially critical in keeping Jackson upright against a physical New England front.

Meanwhile, a few players remained out of action. Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (foot), linebacker Teddye Buchanan (knee), and defensive tackle John Jenkins (illness) did not practice Thursday. With the Patriots game looming, their availability could impact the depth and rotation on defense.

There was some encouraging news on the offensive side as well. Wide receivers Rashod Bateman (ankle) and Zay Flowers (neck) were both full participants, along with safety Keondre Jackson (ankle) and defensive tackle C.J.

Okoye (quad). Flowers and Bateman being healthy is a big deal for a Ravens passing game that’s shown flashes of explosiveness this season.

If both are at full speed Sunday, it gives Lamar Jackson a more complete arsenal to work with.

The Ravens will release their final injury designations on Friday, but as of now, the outlook for several key contributors-especially Jackson and Smith-is trending in the right direction. For a team with big playoff aspirations, that’s exactly what you want to see in December.
