Ravens Suddenly Face A Derrick Henry Decision Fans Never Expected

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, Derrick Henry's future with the Ravens hangs in the balance as the Giants and Patriots emerge as leading contenders for the star running back.

The clock is ticking toward the NFL trade deadline, and Derrick Henry has become one of the biggest names to watch.

Baltimore may be staring at a difficult call with less than a week left before November 10. Henry is still producing at a high level, with 632 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, but the Ravens’ recent skid has changed the picture. Lamar Jackson’s thumb injury has also taken a major bite out of their Super Bowl hopes, which is why a trade can’t be ruled out if Baltimore decides Henry no longer fits its long-term plan.

If the Ravens do listen, the market could be there. Henry is owed $12 million next season, and ESPN’s Dan Graziano pointed out that his contract structure could make him easier for a contender to absorb.

Most of his money has already been paid out in bonuses, leaving a base salary that would be manageable under the cap. “If he isn’t in Baltimore’s plans beyond this year, the Ravens could find themselves fielding offers over the next week,” Graziano wrote.

Two teams stand out as realistic landing spots: the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

The Giants make sense for a few reasons. John Harbaugh knows Henry from their time together in Baltimore, and Harbaugh has already shown he’s willing to work the phones, reaching out to the Tennessee Titans about defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons last week.

He also made clear the Ravens will keep pushing before the deadline. “We’re going to do the most we can possibly do to try to get some things done.

It’s hard to get deals done,” Harbaugh said.

For New York, the fit is straightforward. The Giants could use another dependable back, and Henry would bring a familiar face, plus the kind of experience and leadership that can steady a locker room.

New England belongs on the list too. Mike Vrabel knows Henry from their Tennessee days, and that connection could make the conversation easier to start. The Patriots also have a clear need for help at running back, and Henry would give them a proven weapon as they try to improve their offense down the stretch.

Baltimore still has to decide whether moving him makes sense at all. A loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday could make that decision even tougher to avoid. For now, though, the Giants and Patriots are the two teams most worth tracking as the deadline nears.

Ravens Quarterback Crisis Just Forced Another Desperate Move

Lamar Jacksons thumb injury has left Baltimore scrambling for answers at the most important position on the field, and the ripple effects are already showing up in the roster moves. With Jackson expected to miss the rest of the season, the Ravens have had to keep piecing together a quarterback room on the fly while trying to stabilize a team suddenly forced to adjust its entire identity.

Kedon Slovis is the latest addition, giving Baltimore another arm as it prepares for its next game, but the depth chart still looks thin and unsettled. Joe Fagnano and Austin Reed remain in the mix, and team leaders like Roquan Smith and Minter have already acknowledged how difficult the road ahead will be without Jackson steering the offense. Lamar Jackson Buzz Just Reignited A Dolphins QB Debate

Lamar Jacksons future has become one of those topics that never really disappears around the Ravens, especially when injuries and the lack of deep playoff runs keep the conversation alive. The latest round of buzz came from Fox Sports Nick Wright, who floated the idea that Jackson could still be in a very different uniform down the road, a reminder of how quickly one of the leagues biggest stars can become the center of a long-range what-if.

For Baltimore, it is the kind of speculation that says as much about Jacksons profile as it does about the teams current place in the AFC. There has been no trade report or team decision to point to, but the chatter keeps circling back to the same question of whether his future might eventually be shaped by a potential move and the appeal of a new setting. Lamar Jackson Trade Buzz Reignites A Big Ravens Question

Lamar Jacksons thumb injury has only added fuel to a familiar kind of NFL chatter, the sort that tends to follow a star quarterback whenever contract questions linger. Michael Irvin stirred the pot by suggesting Jackson could end up with the Dolphins, and the reaction was immediate, with plenty of fans pushing back on the idea. For Baltimore, the bigger issue is not the noise around a speculative destination, but the reality that Jackson remains central to everything the franchise wants to do.

There has been no confirmation of trade talks from either the Ravens or the Dolphins, and the teams stance remains rooted in the present. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Baltimore still views Jackson as its franchise quarterback and expects contract discussions to pick back up in the offseason. Even so, the long-term picture is still tied to whether the two sides can reach an extension, because if they cannot, the possibility of a trade would not disappear. [Read more 🡒]
