The Baltimore Ravens have certainly stirred the NFL pot with their recent decision regarding the Maxx Crosby trade. Initially, they had locked in a deal, offering up two first-round picks to bring the five-time Pro Bowler into their fold.
However, the narrative took a twist on Tuesday when reports emerged that the Ravens are stepping away from the Crosby trade. While the details are still emerging, it's believed that concerns over Crosby's physicals played a significant role in this change of heart.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero shed light on the league-wide reaction, noting that an anonymous general manager didn't mince words, expressing frustration with Baltimore's decision to back out. "This is very much bulls**t on Baltimore's part," the GM reportedly said, according to Pelissero's tweet.
Pelissero further elaborated on 'The NFL Network,' explaining that the sentiment around the league is one of surprise and disapproval. "The reaction from others within the NFL is predominantly about how the Ravens pulled the rug out regardless of their reasoning," he stated.
"This just does not happen. When you're trading two first-round picks, this isn't an unknown issue about Maxx Crosby.
Everyone knew he had a knee injury and finished on injured reserve."
Crosby's 2025 season ended with a torn meniscus, which sidelined him for the final two games. He underwent surgery in January and has been on the mend since then.
As for what’s next, there’s a cloud of uncertainty surrounding Crosby’s future. Former NFL safety and current analyst Louis Riddick weighed in on the situation, suggesting that the failed trade might prompt other teams to reconsider their stance on Crosby. "There will be a lot of discussions between team doctors/medical staff and roster decision makers on quite a few teams tonight, regarding Maxx Crosby," Riddick tweeted.
Crosby has been a force with the Raiders over seven seasons, amassing 439 total tackles, 69.5 sacks, and 133 tackles for loss. Whether another team will seize the opportunity to acquire such a talent remains to be seen.
