The Ravens’ receiver picture looks settled on paper, but that could change fast once training camp gets rolling.
ESPN has Baltimore opening with Rashod Bateman and Ja’Kobi Lane starting alongside Zay Flowers, and at first glance that projection tracks. Bateman is still the most recognizable name in the group behind Flowers, and Lane, a third-round pick, enters with a slight edge over Elijah Sarratt, who went in the fourth round.
But there’s a real chance that picture doesn’t hold for long. Elijah Sarratt and Devontez Walker have both been making noise early in the offseason, and either one could force his way into the lineup by Week 1.
Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com singled out Sarratt as a standout during minicamp and OTAs, while Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic labeled Walker a “stock up player.” That kind of early momentum matters, especially for young receivers trying to carve out a role before the pads come on.
Sarratt’s path is the cleaner one to track because he and Lane are both physical X-receivers, which puts them in direct competition for the same job. Lane may have the draft slot advantage, but his hold on a starting role is hardly locked in. The buzz around Sarratt has been strong enough to suggest he made a strong first impression with the coaching staff.
Walker, meanwhile, brings a different kind of pressure. Bateman may carry the bigger name, but last season he finished with just 224 yards and two touchdowns.
Walker, by comparison, was targeted only eight times and still produced 136 yards and three touchdowns. That kind of efficiency is hard to ignore.
His speed and big-play ability fit perfectly in Declan Doyle’s system, where explosive plays are valued. If Walker keeps showing out in camp, he has a real shot to push for more snaps and maybe even a starting job.
The Ravens could also simply line him up next to Bateman. Either way, if he keeps trending up, there’s a clear route for him to crack the starting group.
So while ESPN’s projected lineup makes sense today, Baltimore’s receiver room may look different by the time Week 1 arrives. With Sarratt and Walker both building momentum, a shake-up is very much on the table.

DeAndre Hopkins is still a free agent, but his latest comments made clear he is looking for something very specific as he moves deeper into his career. In a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview, the veteran receiver said he is no longer chasing a regular-season spotlight or trying to force his way into a featured role, and instead wants to fit into a competitive team with Super Bowl aspirations.
