Ravens Offer Tyler Linderbaum $88 Million Before Shocking Raiders Move

Tyler Linderbaum's shift from the Ravens to the Raiders highlights contract strategy over loyalty in the NFL.

Tyler Linderbaum's move from the Baltimore Ravens to the Las Vegas Raiders marks a significant shift in the NFL landscape. The Raiders secured the 25-year-old center with a three-year, $81 million deal, averaging $27 million annually.

Interestingly, this wasn't the largest offer on the table for Linderbaum. The Ravens had put forth a four-year, $88 million contract, averaging $22 million per year, as reported by The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec.

Despite the overall value of Baltimore's offer, the structure of the Raiders' deal proved more enticing. The $27 million annual average surpassed the Ravens by $5 million per year, and the shorter duration gives Linderbaum the opportunity to re-enter free agency sooner, a strategic move for any player looking to maximize career earnings.

Drafted 25th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft from Iowa, Linderbaum quickly became a key player for the Ravens, starting every game from his rookie year. His impact was immediate and impressive, earning him three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2023 to 2025. He became the first Ravens offensive lineman since Hall of Famer Marshal Yanda to achieve this feat.

In his four seasons, Linderbaum started 71 out of 73 possible games, including playoffs. His pass block win rate stands at 96.2%, second only to Kansas City’s Creed Humphrey among centers.

On the ground, his 71.2% run block win rate ranks seventh, showcasing his prowess in anchoring Baltimore's formidable rushing attack. In 2025, the Ravens averaged 156.6 rushing yards per game, second in the league, and led with 5.3 yards per carry.

A pivotal factor in this transition was Baltimore's decision not to exercise Linderbaum’s fifth-year option in 2025. Under the current league rules, this option groups centers with higher-paid tackles, inflating the projected salary to $23.4 million for 2026. This would have made him the highest-paid center by a significant margin, influencing the Ravens' strategy and ultimately paving the way for his departure to Las Vegas.

The Raiders, coming off a 3-14 season and holding the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, are clearly looking to reshape their future. With Linderbaum anchoring their offensive line, they’ve taken a substantial step toward revitalizing the team and setting a foundation for success.
