The Carolina Panthers’ search for pass rush help may have an unexpected starting point in Baltimore.
That possibility opened up after second-year edge rusher Nic Scourton tore his ACL on the first day of training camp, leaving Carolina with a sudden hole to patch. At this stage, the Panthers are more likely to hunt for depth than chase a headline-grabbing trade, and that’s where the Ravens enter the picture.
Baltimore’s top five pass rushers currently look set to take the main roster spots: Trey Hendrickson, Mike Green, Zion Young, Tavius Robinson and Adisa Isaac. Of that group, Isaac stands out as the most obvious name to watch. He has been slowed by injuries throughout his career, and even when he has been available, his production has not matched the draft status that once made him a notable investment.
Still, Isaac was a third-round pick just two years ago, which makes him the kind of low-cost swing Carolina could consider if it wants to add depth without paying a premium. The logic is simple: if the move works, the Panthers deepen their edge room. If it doesn’t, Scourton is expected back in 2027.
For Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta, the asking price would likely not be steep. A late-round pick swap would probably be enough to get a deal done, making Isaac the sort of flier a team can justify when it needs bodies more than splash.
If Carolina wanted to aim higher, Tavius Robinson would be the more ambitious target. But that would require an overpay, and even then, the Ravens would be unlikely to part with the 27-year-old. Baltimore also drafted Zion Young in the 2026 NFL Draft, giving the team a versatile run defender for the future and making Robinson even harder to pry away.
Any move involving Isaac would also need Baltimore to have another plan lined up. Jadeveon Clowney could be a free-agent option if Isaac is moved, and Kyle Van Noy is another name to watch since he has said he wants to play in 2026 and is interested in a return to Baltimore.
There’s also the possibility that the Ravens simply turn to Kaimon Rucker as Isaac’s replacement. Given how little Isaac has done over his two-year NFL career, that would not be a bad route.
For now, Isaac looks like a player who could use a fresh start, and Carolina’s injury hit may have created the right opening. The Panthers already signed Cam Gill for added training camp depth, but if they decide to keep digging for help, Isaac is the kind of gamble that could make sense.
