Ravens Lose Top Coaching Target as Falcons Make Bold Hire

In a swift move that narrows the Ravens' coaching search, the Falcons have secured Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach, reshaping the offseason hiring landscape.

One of the top names in the Baltimore Ravens’ head coaching search is officially off the board.

Kevin Stefanski is heading to Atlanta, where he’s been hired as the next head coach of the Falcons. That move takes him out of the running to replace John Harbaugh in Baltimore.

Stefanski had interviewed with the Ravens back on January 9, and there was strong momentum building toward a second interview. The Dolphins and Titans were also reportedly interested in bringing him back for a second round, but the Falcons didn’t wait around - they made their move and landed their guy.

Now, on paper, hiring a recently-fired head coach might raise some eyebrows, especially for a team like Atlanta that believes it’s ready to compete. But dig a little deeper, and Stefanski’s résumé speaks for itself.

He’s a two-time AP Coach of the Year (2020, 2023) and helped guide the Browns to multiple playoff appearances - no small feat considering Cleveland’s recent history. He’s earned respect across the league for his steady leadership, offensive creativity, and ability to get the most out of his rosters.

While Stefanski is known for his offensive pedigree, his teams in Cleveland consistently fielded strong defenses as well. That balance is part of what made him a compelling candidate for Baltimore. Ravens fans, in particular, have seen firsthand that Stefanski wasn’t the issue in Cleveland - if anything, he was one of the few constants holding things together.

At 43, Stefanski was considered a serious contender for the Ravens’ job - maybe not the frontrunner, but certainly on the short list. Still, Baltimore isn’t in a rush.

With one of the most desirable coaching vacancies in the league, they’re taking their time to find the right fit. Stefanski may have moved on to Atlanta without a second interview, but the Ravens are staying patient, focused on a thorough process rather than locking in on one name.

So while Stefanski’s off the table, the Ravens’ search continues - and with the job they’re offering, they won’t be lacking in qualified candidates ready to step in and lead a team built to win now.
