Ravens Interview Jaguars DC Amid Search for New Head Coach

The Ravens continue their thorough head coaching search with a sit-down featuring rising defensive mind Anthony Campanile, fresh off a standout season in Jacksonville.

The Baltimore Ravens continue their methodical search for a new head coach, and their latest interview brings another intriguing defensive mind into the mix. On Monday, the team confirmed they’ve completed an interview with Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile for the vacant HC role.

At 43, Campanile’s coaching journey has been anything but conventional - and that might be exactly what makes him such an appealing candidate. His roots trace back to New Jersey, where he played college ball at Rutgers before cutting his teeth as a high school coach in the Garden State.

From there, he steadily climbed the coaching ladder, returning to Rutgers in 2012 as a defensive assistant. By 2016, he was coaching defensive backs at Boston College, and just a few years later, he was patrolling the sidelines at Michigan as the Wolverines’ linebackers coach.

That trajectory eventually led him to the NFL, where he spent four seasons (2020-2023) developing linebackers for the Miami Dolphins. In 2024, Green Bay brought him in as their linebackers coach and run game coordinator - a role that showcased his ability to scheme against the ground game. That expertise paid off when Jacksonville made him their defensive coordinator for the 2025 season.

And in that role? Campanile delivered.

The Jaguars’ defense took a noticeable leap under his leadership. They finished the season ranked No. 8 in scoring defense and No. 11 in total defense - solid numbers across the board.

But the real headline was their dominance against the run. Jacksonville allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league, establishing themselves as a physical, disciplined unit up front.

While their pass defense lagged behind at No. 21, the overall improvement - especially in the trenches - was hard to miss.

Campanile now joins a growing list of candidates vying for the Ravens’ head coaching job. Baltimore has cast a wide net, interviewing a mix of offensive and defensive minds, ranging from veteran coordinators to rising position coaches. Here’s where the Ravens’ search currently stands:

Finalists (Scheduled or Expected Interviews):

  • Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver
  • Bills OC Joe Brady
  • Chargers DC Jesse Minter

Other Interviewed Candidates:

  • Chiefs OC Matt Nagy
  • Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak
  • Broncos QB coach Davis Webb
  • Broncos DC Vance Joseph
  • Former Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury
  • Vikings DC Brian Flores
  • Browns DC Jim Schwartz
  • Rams DC Chris Shula
  • Former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel (Scheduled)
  • Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase
  • Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile
  • Broncos assistant HC/special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi (Expected)

The Ravens are clearly doing their homework, leaving no stone unturned in a search that will shape the next chapter of a franchise with championship aspirations. Campanile’s defensive pedigree, player development chops, and recent success with Jacksonville’s front seven make him a name worth watching as the process unfolds.

For now, Baltimore continues to line up interviews and evaluate its options - but with each candidate, the picture becomes a little clearer.
