Ravens Hire Bears Coach as New Offensive Coordinator in Bold Move

The Ravens are turning to one of the NFL's youngest rising minds to reshape their offense.

The Baltimore Ravens have made their move at offensive coordinator - and it’s a bold one. They’re bringing in Declan Doyle from the Chicago Bears, where he served as OC, to take over the same role in Baltimore.

But this isn’t just a title swap. In Charm City, Doyle will take on full play-calling duties, something he didn’t have control of in Chicago.

That distinction matters. In Chicago, head coach Ben Johnson was the one dialing up plays.

Doyle was in the room, helping shape the game plan and contributing to a top-10 offense, but he wasn’t the one holding the headset on Sundays. Now, under new Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, he gets the keys to the offense - and at just 29 years old, he becomes the youngest offensive coordinator in the NFL with full play-calling responsibilities.

Doyle’s rise has been fast. He spent four seasons as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints, then moved to Denver to coach tight ends before landing in Chicago.

And while he wasn’t the primary architect of the Bears’ offensive resurgence in 2025, he was certainly part of the blueprint. That unit finished sixth in total yards per game, third in rushing, 10th in passing, and ninth in points scored - a significant turnaround that doesn’t happen without a strong supporting cast on the coaching staff.

What makes this hire intriguing for Baltimore is Doyle’s exposure to Ben Johnson’s offensive system. Johnson, known for his creativity and adaptability, has become one of the league’s most respected offensive minds. Doyle got a front-row seat to that evolution in Chicago, and now he brings those ideas - and a chance to put his own spin on them - to a Ravens team that’s been searching for the right offensive identity to pair with a championship-caliber defense.

This offseason has been a busy one for Chicago’s staff pipeline. Doyle is the third key figure to be hired away, following assistant GM Ian Cunningham’s move to Atlanta to become the Falcons’ general manager, and running backs coach Eric Bieniemy’s return to Kansas City as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.

For the Ravens, this is a swing on upside. They’re betting on a young coach with a rising profile, fresh ideas, and a hunger to prove himself as a play-caller. And for Doyle, it’s a chance to step out of the shadows and show what he can do when the offense is truly his to run.
