One of the sharpest roster questions left for the Baltimore Ravens heading into their preseason finale sits at pass rusher, where the final spot still looks up for grabs between Adisa Isaac and Ethan Burke.
Baltimore reshaped the group, but the last opening hasn’t been settled. Isaac is trying to come back from a run of bad luck and finally put together a healthy season. Burke, meanwhile, has spent August making a real case that he belongs.
And he’s not just hanging around. Burke has flashed all over preseason and training camp, bringing pressure on the quarterback with 1 sack and 2 pressures, forcing a fumble, and making his mark on special teams. At 6-foot-6, he’s also been clogging throwing lanes, adding another layer to his value.
That kind of production has put him in position to make one more push in the preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. A strong finish could be enough to turn a good August into a roster spot.
Isaac, though, still has support inside the building. After Tuesday’s practice, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver praised what he has seen from the third-round pick.
“In the limited exposures we’ve had out here to him, he’s played well,” Weaver said. “He’s done a lot of good things, both rushing the passer, being physical in the run game…I am so proud of that kid and what he’s done to this point.”
The issue for Isaac has never really been talent. It’s availability.
His development has been interrupted repeatedly, starting with an elbow injury last year that ended his season and then a hamstring problem in 2024. He’s healthy now, but the bigger question is whether that can hold.
That uncertainty gives Burke a real opening. The undrafted rookie has separated himself on the field, and his college track record at Texas helps his case too. He missed just two games there, which stands in contrast to Isaac’s injury history.
If Burke puts together a complete preseason finale - another sack, steady pressure, solid run defense, and more work on special teams - he could make the decision awfully difficult for Baltimore. And if the Ravens are thinking about his 2026 role, that job likely starts with special teams anyway.
