Ravens Eye Key Veteran as Free Agency Moves Wrap Up

The Ravens face pressing decisions as they aim to bolster their roster depth, with veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins emerging as a crucial target to enhance their offensive lineup.

The Baltimore Ravens seem to have wrapped up their major moves in free agency, with GM Eric DeCosta hinting that the big splashes are done. After bringing in edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, the focus now shifts to fine-tuning the roster with depth. And there's still some talent out there to snag.

One area that needs attention is wide receiver. The Ravens are on the hunt for another starting threat to pair with Zay Flowers, but adding depth is equally crucial. Enter veteran wideout DeAndre Hopkins, a familiar face who could fill that role seamlessly.

Hopkins, one of eight Baltimore free agents still on the market, hasn’t seen much action in terms of offers. But as free agency progresses, it might be time for the Ravens to act. Bringing him back into the fold could be a smart move.

In 2025, Hopkins recorded 22 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns. While those numbers might not jump off the page, his efficiency was notable. Averaging 15.5 yards per catch and converting 15 of those into first downs, Hopkins proved his worth when it mattered most.

The five-time Pro Bowler continued to excel in contested catches and was a red-zone threat, though he didn’t get enough opportunities last season. Hopkins himself expressed some frustration about this on social media.

Typically, a player in Hopkins' situation might look elsewhere in free agency. But with a new coaching staff in place, there’s a fresh opportunity for both parties. If the front office and Hopkins are game, a reunion could be beneficial.

Lamar Jackson could use a reliable jump-ball target, and while the Ravens might find one in the upcoming draft, having Hopkins as a rotational option is a solid plan. His dependable hands are a quarterback’s dream, and he could also mentor any rookie wideouts the Ravens bring in.

DeVontez Walker is another receiver who deserves more snaps in 2026. Known for his explosive play, Walker was similarly underutilized last season.

If Hopkins returns, Walker should still see priority, as they bring different skills to the table. New offensive coordinator Declan Doyle would have the opportunity to craft a versatile and dynamic receiving corps.

Financially, Hopkins is expected to be a bargain. Spotrac estimates a one-year, $1.5 million deal, which would be a steal considering his reliability and experience. For the Ravens, he’s a trusted option to lean on when the stakes are high.
