Ravens Defense May Have Finally Shown Real Progress Against Bijan Robinson

The Ravens' defense delivered an impressive performance by limiting Bijan Robinson's impact in their Week 5 victory, showcasing their strategic mastery and tackling improvement.

The Ravens walked out of Week 5 with a win, and a big part of that was a defense that refused to let Bijan Robinson take over the game.

All night, No. 7 was the focus. Robinson has spent the last few years building a reputation for ripping off explosive gains, and he arrived with the kind of big-play track record that usually keeps coordinators up.

He’s tied with Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker for the league lead in 20+ yard runs with six and 40+ yard runs with two in 2026. Baltimore still had to deal with that burst - and, to its credit, it did.

Robinson finished with two explosive runs in this one, but neither turned into the kind of momentum-shifting play he’s known for. The Ravens held up well against one of the toughest individual tests they’ll see all season.

The numbers tell the story. Robinson still had his moments: a 20-yard run in the first quarter, a 9-yard gain where he shook Marlon Humphrey, a 38-yarder, and a 14-yard catch.

But those four snaps accounted for 81 of his 118 total yards. When so much of the damage comes in isolated bursts, it says plenty about how little Baltimore gave him between those plays.

Take away the 38-yard run, and Robinson’s rushing line drops to 16 carries for 48 yards. That’s 3 yards per carry, and he never reached the end zone.

Baltimore’s answer started at the line. Jesse Minter’s defense stacked the box and kept Robinson from getting comfortable, while also limiting Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons’ offensive line from settling into any kind of rhythm. On the edge, Tavius Robinson, Mike Green, and Zion Young did important work by setting the edge and forcing plays back inside instead of allowing Robinson room to bounce runs outside.

That mattered because once Robinson got the ball, space was hard to find. Baltimore kept the lanes crowded, the contact tight, and the tackling steadier than it had been at other points. There were still a few misses - with a player like Robinson, that’s part of the deal - but on Sunday Night Football, he was only able to break loose a handful of times.

For a Baltimore defense that has been searching for answers, this was the kind of night that stands out.

Ravens Found Something Important In Atlanta Without Lamar Jackson

The Ravens went to Atlanta without Lamar Jackson and still found a way to leave with a win, edging the Falcons 30-23 in overtime. Tyler Huntley stepped in at quarterback and kept Baltimore steady enough to survive a late push, with the team leaning on the kind of situational football that can travel well in December and beyond.

Baltimores defense had the final say after Atlanta clawed back into the game, and the victory gave the Ravens sole possession of first place in the AFC North. For a team trying to show it can stay on course when its star quarterback is unavailable, the bigger takeaway was not just that it won, but how it handled the pressure when the game started slipping away. Derrick Henry Had A Message After Ravens Silenced The Doubters

The Ravens walked out of Sunday night with a 30-23 overtime win over the Falcons, but the game carried extra edge because of the chatter that surrounded it all week. Derrick Henry made sure to note that plenty of the outside picks leaned Atlantas way, and Baltimore had to spend much of the night answering those doubts the hard way before the result finally flipped in its favor.

Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley helped fuel the late rally after Lamar Jackson was ruled out with an injury, giving Baltimore a path back into a game that looked like it might slip away. Henry did his part with 102 rushing yards and the two-point conversion that tied things late, and after the win he had a pointed message for the voices that had counted the Ravens out. [Read more 🡒]

Ravens Win Still Exposed A Problem Fans Cant Ignore

The Ravens left Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a 30-23 overtime win, but the kind of victory that still invites a long look at what went wrong along the way. Baltimore had enough answers late, yet Atlantas defense made sure it was not easy, getting four sacks and pressure on the quarterback while Jessie Bates III supplied the kind of impact play that can swing a game. Drake London and Kyle Pitts also gave the Falcons some needed production on offense, helping keep things tense into the extra period.

Still, the most worrying part for Baltimore was harder to ignore than the final result. The Ravens were able to lean on their ground game for much of the night, and Atlanta never consistently solved it even after putting together strong stretches on defense. For a team trying to stack wins and build momentum, the ability to finish was there, but so was the reminder that the run defense remains a real issue waiting to be fixed. [Read more 🡒]
