Maxx Crosby is sticking with the Las Vegas Raiders, at least for now. In a surprising twist this NFL offseason, the Baltimore Ravens have pulled out of a trade for the star pass rusher.
The Raiders released a statement on Tuesday saying, “The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time.”
While the specifics behind the Ravens' decision remain unclear, Crosby's status as a top-tier pass rusher makes this a significant development.
Dianna Russini from The Athletic shed some light on the situation, reporting that the Ravens' withdrawal stemmed from health concerns. “Maxx Crosby did not pass his physical today, per sources. The Ravens get their first-round picks back,” Russini shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
With the trade falling through, Baltimore regains their No. 14 pick in the upcoming April NFL draft, along with a first-rounder in 2027.
This turn of events adds another layer of intrigue to the offseason. The Raiders might explore trading Crosby again, but for now, he's back in their fold. Meanwhile, other teams have been adjusting their defensive strategies, anticipating Crosby's potential move.
The Dallas Cowboys, who were previously linked to Crosby, pivoted by acquiring Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers after missing out on Crosby.
Crosby's impact on the field is undeniable. Over his seven NFL seasons, he's racked up 69.5 sacks, 164 quarterback hits, and defended 29 passes in 110 games. His presence-or absence-can significantly sway a team's defensive fortunes.
