LaJohntay Wester Returns to Guide Colorado's Next Big Talent

LaJohntay Wester's return to Colorado signifies a pivotal mentoring moment for Julian Lewis, potentially shaping the future of the Buffaloes under Coach Prime.

Deion Sanders, or Coach Prime as he's affectionately known, might just have a rising star in Julian Lewis. With the right guidance, the Colorado Buffaloes could be onto something special.

Recently, LaJohntay Wester, a former standout for Sanders, returned to Boulder to lend a helping hand. Wester, now a wide receiver and return specialist for the Baltimore Ravens, spent a stellar final year in the Big 12 after four productive seasons with the Florida Atlantic Owls.

His efforts led to being picked 203rd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In his rookie season, Wester made an impact with 58 offensive snaps and 73 on special teams, amassing 198 yards on 16 punt returns and 246 yards on ten kick returns. Despite his NFL success, Wester stays connected to his roots, much like his coach, who also hails from Florida.

A recent social media clip showed Wester mentoring young Buffaloes quarterback Julian Lewis. This gesture speaks volumes about the culture Sanders is building at Colorado and Wester's commitment to giving back. The bond from Boulder to the NFL is still growing, but the camaraderie is clearly strong.

Lewis, who appeared in four games last season with two starts, showed glimpses of his potential. Although both games ended in losses, his performance-completing 55.3% of his passes with four touchdowns and no interceptions-demonstrated maturity beyond his years.

If Coach Prime and his team continue to hone Lewis's skills, the Buffaloes might have something extraordinary in their quarterback. And when that moment arrives, expect LaJohntay Wester to be watching closely, not just as a former player, but as a mentor who helped lay the groundwork.
